Quick Review: Godzilla (2014)- For the fifteen minutes that Godzilla actually shows up, it's an awesome movie about giant monsters fighting in the city where I work and that's fantastic. Watching this movie in a room full of people that bust out laughing every time BART is mentioned is the only way to watch this in theaters. For the remaining 90% of the movie, it's terrible and there are an uncomfortable number of similarities to the 1998 Matthew Broderick version. The M.U.T.O. designs are cool and Godzilla looks great too, but every minute that a giant monster is not on screen, you should be fast forwarding it. It's more "Uninteresting military guy and random children in harm's way featuring cameos by Godzilla" than it is a Godzilla movie. Without spoiling anything, Bryan Cranston's role is hilarious. Kudos to his agent for getting him however many thousands of dollars to do that role.
