I know I don't tend to get political on the site or talk about the real world much. I can just barely get people to listen to my thoughts on video games and movies, so why would somebody listen to me about real world issues. Also, I tend to think you're all pretty keen so I make assumptions that you believe in the same things I do. However, given the state of the world, people suffering from the effects of the pandemic, people being murdered in the US and highlights on police brutality and militarization, and the US president's calls to turn the army against its own citizens, it really felt like the absolute least I could do to say something. Anything. While I'm privileged and lucky enough to not be personally hurt by these issues, I have been trying to come to terms with how little what I do matters. Is my day job nothing more than frivolity? And then I come home and just draw and write? I even had some panic over whether it felt like the Agency in Manitou was coming across as too much of a police/military organization (it's not supposed to be one!). But I didn't want this to just be a post about making myself feel good. I've made my donations and looked into my employer matching those (couldn't get it...). I may not personally have any power in these situations but I can at least make donations to help those that can do more. If you can do something to help people out with actions or just financial support, please do! Find something local like charities or legal funds. If you can't find anything local, donating to the larger structures like BLM, the ACLU, the Human Rights Campaign, or many more are always an option. Even if all you can contribute is to just be a decent and kind person, society kind of really needs that. Thanks for reading!

I can't find the video I would want to show you, but I remember bits. To summarize it, entertainment allows us to laugh, cry, feel good, and even make us scared. It gives us a chance to escape reality, whether it be something important like performing life saving surgery to something mundane like teaching children. Entertainment can even share culture and values. It can give a much needed break for people, so they can continue doing what they do.
