Quick Critique: Deadpool 2 (Patreon)

I did not care for Deadpool 1, but DP2 is downright enjoyable and the writing is vastly better than the first. The first relied too heavily on trying to shock and offend for humor, but mostly failed at it and was just tedious. The sequel has actual jokes. That are funny! The shockvalue they use supports the jokes rather than trying to be the joke. 

Much like all super hero movies, it's loaded with fight scenes, but they actually tried to make them creative and interesting so the scenes don't drag on like the standard Marvel and DC fare. They use Deadpool's ability to break and regenerate to have him pull off some really wacky moves. Cable is the over-the-top badass at everything so he gets super impressive and tactical heavy action. Domino gets moments that just flow together in fun ways. The best fights are when they face off and their styles play off each other.

It's certainly not a fantastic movie, but it's fun from an action standpoint and a comedy standpoint. It's not just good for a superhero movie, it's just good. You do need to weigh that against T.J. Miller's involvement and that somebody died to make this movie though...
