Blue wraps up her talk. "The building blocks and evolutionary chains for humanoids were fired off into the far reaches of the cosmos to keep them plain and unaffected by the new creatures."

"They were preserved out in some backwater part of the Universe in case things went wrong. Like if the plan failed or war broke out in the Standard."

"But nobody knows where they come from. All information on the experiment was erased to make sure nobody could ever track down the safety humanoids to mess with the source or to try to create a NEW Standard to compete with ours. It's worked out so far, so everybody just leaves it be."

Rico continues to sit on the ground, now looking horrified instead of his earlier panic attack. "So... Earth is... just a backup file designed to create humanoids?". Blue ponders this for a moment and nods.

There you have it. I'm happy to have fully explained the origins of life and why humanity exists. Humans naturally evolved over the years out among the stars and then the building blocks were intelligently gathered up and shot off to our backwater galaxy and deposited onto a new planet where the conditions were adequate for humanity to regrow.
