What was that thing Sein said about Fern and Stark? Oh yeah, "Just start dating already! Can't believe the shows almost over. Going to miss the visuals, the music, but most of all, the tender flashbacks that suddenly appear and punch you in the heart.

I do love how much they cram into a single episode without making it feel rushed. Like, I feel this episode would be at least 2 episodes in most other anime. My three favorite moments of this episode: -The change from being mad at Frieren and not answering Richter's question about being Frieren's student to confidently telling Serie that she is Frieren's student was great. -Serie casually saying that controlling mana to deceive demons takes either a couple centuries of practice or innate talent. 17 year old Fern out there deceiving Lugner like it was no big deal showed just how much innate talent she has. -This interaction: Serie: You were lucky (derogatory) Frieren: Yes, I was lucky (complementary)

It's Serie's magic association, she has every right to personally call out who passes or fails. That aside, this vibe check test makes more sense if you think about it a little bit than it does on the surface, but like half the candidates haven't been evaluated yet so we'll wait to discuss that until the next episode. Young Himmel's puppy crush on Frieren really lasted his whole life, huh? The first mage to show him magic that was beautiful, and not for warfare against demons.

Favorite part of this episode is the implication that Frieren's full mana is equal to Serie's suppressed mana. Makes one think how long she has been around, similar to Kraft.

It would definitely feel bad to make it through the first two tests only to immediately be told that you failed, but Serie does still have a point here: We already saw how brutal the first two tests were - especially if you consider that a different proctor might have had them do the second test without get-out-of-jail-free golems in their back pocket since that seems to be a "I'm Sense, I'm a pacifist" original. Also, Sense knew full well that an additional clone would spawn for her so we can gather that when she sat down to create a test of "2nd Test" difficulty she looked at the fact that they'd have to square off against her clone and concluded that it was still "easy enough" to only be a "2nd Test" instead of a "3rd Test". So sure, Kanne just being told to leave kinda sucks, but it's better than her dying in an even more difficult test than the ones that came before...
