SURPRISE! DOUBLE DROP! We'll let ya'll not suffer for the day I said we would make you wait 😂 What a freaking journey! Adored this anime from start to finish 😭👏 It's going to be weird not coming back to this show next week, but I'm really happy with where the characters settled at the end! (Jury is still out on Lelouch being a ghost inside of CC's head like Nivi wants but signs point to... probably not!)

This reaction is watchalong format! If you need help syncing we have included a guide HERE<<<! The guide can be found in our pinned post as well!

Lelouch was also theorized to be the one driving the carriage at the very end for the longest time also the sequel movie is 100 percent worth watching, a few things are different but I jumped right into it and enjoyed it quite a bit!

Lelouch of the Resurrection is absolutely worth watching. It existing within the alternative timeline means that its safe to accept as headcanon but you can also consider it non-canon if you prefer this ending. Personally I love it as a send-off for the Lelouch series but I was always in the "Lelouch actually survived" theory boat lol

There is the issue where one particular character's fate was changed in order for the events of Resurrection to happen.

Remember way back when Jeremiah was stripped of his rank? There was a joke that he could either start over from the bottom or quit and cultivate and orange field. Well, well, well. God I loved Jeremiah in this series and it is so crazy what a turn around his character had after being a seemingly generic racist douche at first. It is also funny to think that he never learned of Lady Marriane's schemes, or that ulltimately he serves the one who actually killed her.

I've seen people see the ending and complain that Lelouch left a massive power vaccum that would cause more problems, but there is alot of more subtle work that we saw being done to lay the foundation for peace beyond Lelouch taking all the blame on his shoulders. Lots of things we saw but were not heavily focused on. The USJ is prepared to seize leadership alongside a britanian regime change to Nunnally. Jerimiah slaughtering the nobility that would oppose the empoerer served a double purpose of making everyone turn against Lelouch while also ensuring that when Nunnally came to power she would be entirely unopposed in her reform policies. She is further supported by Schniezel, who was eternally enslaved to serve "Zero" not Lelouch, and Suzaku, planted as an agent near Nunnally to support and protect her if anything goes wrong. The way Lelouch did things Schniezel has an unblemished reputation and can support Nunnally as a political manipulator superior to Lelouch himself(his words, not mine). Perhaps most importantly, with the destruction of Mount Fuji most of the world's Sakuradite sources are just gone. Obtaining the material to enable mass preduction of Knightmares was a major part of why Japan was invaded in the first place. Without this supply Knightmares can no longer be produced on the same scale and are drastically more expensive to produce, meaning that for the forseeable future war, at least on the scale it has been on, is just not economically viable. The same battle also exhausted most of the current supply of knightmares. Thankfully the Fleya's were based on the same technology so they don't really have nukes anymore. If you believe Lelouch is alive then he can also act from the shadows to deal with any future threats to peace.

Lelouch's fate is left purposely left pretty open ended. There are theories that he is the driver of the cart C2 is in at the end, that the whole death was a eloborate hoax. There are also theories that he may have gained the Code of Immortality from "killing" Charles, which is supported by that moment at the end where Nunnally seemed to be given memories when touching him, like C2 has had happen in the past. Though that could just be to shown to us the audience that this plan is what they were talking about in the brief flash there while Nunnally is shocked from piecing together what Lelouch's true intentions were. Some have said that Lelouch surviving would reduce the impact of Lelouch's sacrifice in the end, but I am inclined to disagree. Both Lelouch and Suzaku here are sacrificing thier lives more figuratively. They are constantly going to have to hide thier identities forever and sacrifice any chance of living freely in the future or being with thier loved ones.

Oh man, thanks for that reminder! Hard to believe how much "orange" changed his life. I gotta say, Jeremiah really grew on me by the end of the show and I'm pleasantly surprised he had one of the happier endings!

Man, this show was something else! There's this bittersweet feeling when a show this good ends. A feeling that sticks with you for a while as you digest the experience and change up your routine. Know what I mean? Glad I got to experience it for the first time with the nekomori gang!

I thought that there might be a possibility that I might write a short essay in the comments about this series after you finished it, but I am quite an emotional wreck with this finale, because of that final scene with Nunnally. It ruined me the first time I saw it, and it still chokes me up with goobery, bobbery, snotty tears. So, maybe in another week or two, my mind might recollect it's thoughts and can share something intelligent. It certainly is a show with ups and downs, with excitement and quality alike. In the micro scale there is no doubt that there are issues, but I think it is very apparent that on the macro scale, there is a definite literary form that they were trying to follow with the structure of this series. I don't know if anyone has ever done an in-depth explanation of it before, but it is there where these two seasons of the television show are concerned.
