Sooo many secrets, so little time

Kristopher

Truth be told, the end of this episode shocked me into tears the first time I watched it. Seeing C.C. say: "Are you my new master? I can help prepare food for cooking and can clean. I can fetch water and tend cows and sheep. And sew. I can read a little and I can count to twenty. And... I can also tend corpses, if you wish..." In season one, Shirley lost her memory and learning how she loved Lelouch and was tortured by everything that she'd done and everything that was done to her. In this episode Lelouch gets an intimate glimpse of C.C.'s past and learns what her true wish is. And then suddenly, she is ripped away from us in a way we don't truly understand what has happened, only that the countless years of her existence has been torn from her, and we now have C.C. with the mind of the child who collapsed on that medieval road centuries ago.

Way back in episode one, when Lelouch obtained his Geass, C.C. said something along the lines of, "the power of the king will isolate you." We heard it, and maybe could have imagined something of what that might be. But I don't know if anyone could have imagined the loss and suffering he has gone through as that prophetic phrase slowly comes true before us.

Geass draws on the desires of the heart, so the fact that C.C's manifested as making people love her is truly heartbreaking, especially considering the fate she was ultimately left with.

Actual tragedy 😭 it doesn't matter how many comments we've gotten along the lines of "brace yourself" in the past- nothing could have prepared us for this 🥺
