I know what Cashew means with how this show lulls you into that emotionally vulnerable state. Which sounds bad to write like that, but it is not malicious, and that is probably why it works. Everything is wholesome. There are no "gotchas" or malicious twists to it. Sein leaving isn't a "Oh, look at how we made you love this character and now we are tearing him away from you". It is more of a "He has grown a lot during his time with the party and now has to do what he said he was going to do. We may yet see him again and he has left a legacy with the party." (Quick edit for a last minute addition. It is the difference between bracing for feelings that you think a show is going to inflict and accepting that feelings are natural and ok to have).
