There's a new-ish genre of books called litRPG that revolves around the same concept as this show. Essentially, characters gain access to RPG like systems that let them improve their powers / statistics. Some stories are very light with these elements and others are very crunchy. It's interesting when shows give the genre a new spin!

For anyone interested, the subreddit /r/litrpg has a lot of recommendations! (and a mountain of memes). Here are some I shamelessly stole from it: "The common recommendations here would be something like Cradle for western cultivation, Mother of Learning for time loops, or Mage Errant for a more traditional YA coming-of-age story." PS, can't comment on their quality. Slowly making my to these.
