So the reason for new OP in the last two episodes on season one is a rather interesting bit of trivia. (I am going off from memory, so if I get some specifics wrong or if anyone wants to give more detail by all means go ahead.) Code Geass had a rather rocky production and had several delays that was risking putting them off schedule. As was often done when such problems occurred, the producers decided to create two recap episodes with clips from the show thus far, and record some new narration to accompany it. These episodes ended up being broadcast as 8½ right after the formation of the Black Knights and as 17½ right after Suzaku is revealed to be the pilot of the Lancelot and is announced as Euphemia's personal knight. Now another issue comes with recap episodes, is that they take up a slot in the broadcast schedule that the studio rented at the TV station. So rather than rewrite and repace the story they already planned for the season, they purchased a full hour of time four months after the original schedule to air the final two episodes and give a very climactic end to the season. Just imagine seeing episode 23 at the end of March with Euphy's death and everything falling apart, the Black Knights planning to lay siege to the Tokyo settlement, and having to wait until the end of July to see episodes 24 and 25!

Fun fact, in the games, light novels, and mangas this battle affected the whole world. For the first time in Britania history its military was stretched and used to its max. Lelouch plan is going according to plan, also he didnt destroy the tower because he plans on capturing it and using it to counter his brothers reinforcements.

This OP is definitely in the Top-Two in the series, for me. The first one is iconic, and what everyone knows of the show by, but I feel like there is another one later on that I like more. Hard for me to pick a Top single however, the ranking of my three favorites changes depending on my mood, I guess.
