The (in)famous episode 22! There was quite the controversy all those years ago about this episode. Stuff like, "how could Lelouch be so dumb!?" and the like. I personally see it as very in-character. Whenever we see Lelouch acting as himself, he has theatre kid energy. I think it makes perfect sense when, with all stakes in his mind gone after "surrendering" to Euphie, he is boisterous and hyperbolic talking about his literal superpower. This really is a tragic episode though, like Nivi said, Euphie is quite possibly the NICEST person on the planet, or at least in the Britannian government. The greatest tragedy is, with this, EVERYBODY loses: The Japanese(obviously), The Britannians who at least wanna make a show of good governance by using the Special Zone to have the terrorists disband, Euphie(along with anybody who loves her for being kind), and Lelouch, who even when he stands to gain the most from this event only does so "to atone for this sin...[to] bear this cross" because of his love for his sister, who he now has to order the death of with tears in his eyes :'( Thank you for a great reaction <3

True horror and tragedy in this episode, the saddest part is that she actually succeeded in changing his mind to live peacefully

What even is there really to say with this episode... It's all just so horrible.

There is a not unreasonable theory as to why Lelouch loses control of his geass at this highly (in)convenient moment. Geass "the power of the king" is suppressed and controlled by a person's personal drive towards a goal. In this moment Lelouch is giving up his reason to fight and submitting, as a result he is also submitting to his geass. The other point of reference is Mao who presumably never had any goal or drive and seemingly lost control of his geass very quickly.

Thing is that the pizza episode was infact our breather episode before the gas goes hard and does not stop for the rest of the season.
