I don't know if you noticed, but last episode we learned that Frieren had recently learned a spell to turn grapes sour, and this episode we learn that Eisen's favourite food was sour grapes! I love that she's doing things now that she wished she'd done before.

This was a fun watch during my lunch break today. Also, Eisen saying his favorite food is sour grapes and last episode one of the 'weird' spells that Frienen had collected with Fern was a spell to turn grapes sour. And I agree that it is nice seeing a magic system that grows and develops.

LOL I think they guy at the end just put his hat down. He's fine. Also , its like 2 seconds last episode but one of the first spells Fern uses with Heiter was creating a butterfly illusion, so that hairpiece was perfect.

Speaking of showing rather than telling. We also saw a glimpse of just how dangerous Quall still was even after all this time. If you watch, he was able to replicate on a small scale Fern's defensive spell AND figure out it's weakness after watching it cast only once. Imagine if he'd broken loose on his own and had time to actually analyze this age's magic.

I love that Fern is acting like a child trying to find what their parents have planned for their birthday. I think she sees Frieren half like a mother half like a master.

I don't know if anyone else brought it up but the first four episodes were released together and had a movie budget. That's not to say the rest of the series isn't amazing animation wise, but it does explain why it's so beautiful during these first few episodes. Also I love how after Himmel's death the little text that tells the audience where the party is and how much time has passed got added. It's sort of like how Frieren is tracking the years in reference to his passing.
