Chapter 30 Next time, I'll come find you!

The issue with the Seaborns was not a minor one.

Although they had temporarily driven them away, no one knew when they would come back.

Realizing the seriousness of the problem, the chief of the Wilderness Will Tribe immediately went to find the Grand Chief Juan. It was simply not feasible for one tribe of the Wilderness Will Tribe to monitor such a large area.

"Hey, do you guys think we can eat the flesh of these strange creatures?"

"I don't know."

"Should we give it a try?"

After driving away the Sea Terror, several Adakrys warriors huddled together sneakily, poking at the rotting flesh beneath them.

Since the Sea Terror hadn't been able to take away all their compatriots, there were still some Sea Terror corpses on the ground.

"If you want to become like them, you can give it a try."

A girl's voice sounded in their ears as they looked up and saw a figure holding a huge circular saw, walking towards where Garde was.

"Who is she?"

"Don't know."

"Someone Garde knows?"

Finding a clean patch of grass, Garde lay down on it with closed eyes, pretending to be exhausted.

Beside him, Gavial sat on the ground with her arms folded across her chest, her eyes fixed on Garde.

She was still angry.

"Mr. Crocodile!"

Laurentina's voice sounded in Garde's ear, and as Garde opened his eyes, he saw Gavial looking over.

Garde quickly closed his eyes again and continued lying on the ground, unmoving.

"Hey, I'm looking for you."

Grabbing a stone at random and throwing it at Garde's head with a "thud," Gavial turned to look at Laurentina.

"Who are you?"

Gavial sniffed, as if catching a familiar scent.

A salty and damp smell.

Suddenly, Gavial realized. "Weren't you in that river before?"

She remembered smelling a strange odor when bathing a few days ago, and it was from this girl in front of her!

Looking suspiciously over, Gavial glanced at Laurentina, then at Garde.

She had a feeling that they were hiding something from her.

"Miss with the green hair, can I have a private conversation with Mr. Crocodile?"

"No!"

Gavial refused without hesitation.

"Now that Garde is injured, I don't feel comfortable leaving him alone!"

"I'll protect him."

"I just don't trust you!"

With her hands on her hips, Gavial glared at Laurentina, refusing to budge an inch.

"Your clothes are exactly the same as that woman called Gladiia's. Are you in cahoots with her?"

"She attacked Garde not long ago, and then she suddenly disappeared."

"The appearance of these strange creatures must have something to do with you."

Before Gavial could finish her sentence, Garde covered her mouth from behind.

"Gavial, you go take care of the wounded. You've learned healing spells from Grandpa Abel, haven't you?"

"But you..."

"I'm fine."

Hearing the firmness in Garde's tone, Gavial reluctantly turned her head away.

"Hmph, I'm done with you!"

Although she said so with her mouth, Gavial looked back three times as she walked away, until she bumped into another Adakrys.

"You, can't you watch where you're going!"

The distant noise and the two people on the grassy lawn had nothing to do with each other. Looking over, Laurentina said, "This girl with the green hair seems to really like you."

"Of course, her parents died early, and when my parents picked her up, they treated her like my soon-to-be wife."

"Then why did you come bother me!"

"Hey hey, who's actually bothering who here? Who's the one who bites my tail as soon as we meet, then gets their butt beaten and sticks to me refusing to leave?"

Garde felt like Laurentina was playing the victim first. He, a crocodile who had never dated in two lifetimes combined, couldn't possibly understand how to flirt.

Clearly, it was always Laurentina who flirted with him!

"Laurentina, why is it just you? Where are Gladiia and Skadi?"

Garde felt that Laurentina's mood seemed a bit low, could it be that something happened to Gladiia and Skadi?

That shouldn't be it!

"Do you care about them?"

"Heh, who cares about them? One stabs me with a spear as soon as we meet, the other swings a sword at me. I'm lucky if I don't beat their butts to a pulp."

"Sorry!"

"Why apologize? It's not your fault. I'll just ignore them, it's not like I lose out."

Garde squatted down, meeting Laurentina's gaze.

"Or is it, my shark lady, someone bullied you?"

It was only at this moment that Garde realized he had grown a little taller.

If they kept going like this, walking together with Laurentina...

It would really be like Beauty and the Beast.

"No, Mr. Crocodile, no one bullied me."

From the pocket of her clothes, Laurentina took out two wooden carvings, one that looked a lot like Garde, and one that resembled herself.

"I was just thinking, after we leave this time, it will be a long time before I can see Mr. Crocodile again."

"So."

"If I'm not here anymore, can Mr. Crocodile treat her as me?"

Laurentina handed her wooden carving to Garde and placed Garde's carving in his palm.

Garde looked at Laurentina, his gaze slightly deepening.

"No matter how exquisite the carving is, she's still just a carving. I don't think she can replace you."

"Hmm, why would you say that? Does Mr. Crocodile like me?"

"Yes, who wouldn't like a beautiful and elegant shark lady?" There's no room for timidity here; even if Garde was just an inexperienced crocodile, he knew that he couldn't back down at a time like this.

"But I'm actually not as elegant as you imagine. Just look at the circular saw in my hand, and you'll know. When I fight, I'm called a madwoman by the members of the team."

"Then it's perfect, I'm pretty crazy when I fight too."

Compared to the madness during battles, Laurentina really wasn't as crazy as Garde.

"When I first saw you, I actually mistook you for food."

"But when I first saw you, I wanted to take you home as my wife!"

Who wouldn't love a beautiful girl with white hair and red eyes?

Although Garde was a crocodile person, he couldn't avoid being influenced by societal norms!

"I've never heard you say anything like that before."

"Well, would a boy confess his love to his crush right from the start?"

"You're really cunning!"

"Because I'm a hunter on land. If I don't become cunning, how will I catch my prey?"

"But I have to go."

"For how long this time?"

"A very long time, maybe I'll never come back."

Staring into Garde's eyes, Laurentina nestled against him, holding onto his crocodile mouth.

"So, I've come to bid you farewell."

At this moment, Garde finally understood why Laurentina's mood was so low.

"Because of the Seaborns?"

Garde said gloomily.

"Yeah, tranquility is coming. All hunters need to prepare for battle; there won't be any more gaps like before."

High-frequency battles meant high risks and low margins for error.

Even though Laurentina was already an experienced deep-sea hunter, one day, she would inevitably perish in the sea.

"Forget about me," Mr. Crocodile, although I'd like to say that, how can I bring myself to say such words?"

The sea breeze tousled Laurentina's soft white hair, lifting her tight dress, outlining the graceful figure of the girl.

No matter how sad she felt inside, the girl still showed a smile.

"So, Mr. Crocodile, you must not forget me, no matter how long it takes, no matter if you marry and have children in the future, you are not allowed to forget me!"

"This is a promise."

"Can you promise me?"

This was an event that Garde could not intervene in. Even though he was now two or three times stronger than an ordinary deep-sea hunter, he was still extremely vulnerable in the face of the ocean.

But, should he agree to Laurentina's request?

No, absolutely not!

Without any hesitation, Garde grabbed Laurentina's hand and pulled her in front of him, looking down at her from above.

"No, Miss Shark, I will not agree to any conditions from you!"

Garde's pupils turned crimson, anger brewing in his gaze.

"You are already the prey caught in my net, and I will never allow you to escape, let alone allow you to use any excuse to leave me!"

Garde remembered the distance from the depths of the ocean to the land, remembered every time Laurentina had to climb dangerous peaks to reach him.

Only by personally traversing this path could one understand how long and far it truly was.

So.

No matter what stood in his way.

The Sea Terror?

The Seaborns?

Or the boundless ocean?

"Laurentina, next time, I'll come find you!"
