Check any list of the most shocking or painful deaths of a TV character and you will always find this episode near the top. For good reason! It kills me every time.

I can't hold back tears on this one, no matter how many times I've watched it. Yes the acting is amazing, from all of them. The fact that they all heard the gun shot, not only Hotch, it's even more horrible. The only thing that bring me peace is that they got to say goodbye, and Hailey knows Hotch is alive. Side note : Reid is in fact a legend, love how he's speaking to Strauss, so protective of Hotch

This episode always absolutely destroys me no matter what. It's just not fair for Haley, Jack, or Hotch. They didn't deserve for this to happen to them at all, They all deserved better but especially Hayley because she didn't have to die, all because Foyet wanted to destroy Hotch. Jack killed me throughout this episode too, he was just so precious and he worked the case. Though a thought that just breaks my heart is that whilst in his hiding hole, he heard the shot that killed his mother. Even though Hotch is my favourite, I do feel extremely for him and my heart breaks for him because despite what happened between them with the divorce and everything, they still did very much love and care for one another, it's shown in their words to one another especially Haley's words to Aaron. It hurts because Aaron said that do everything to make it up to Hayley but now he can't but now he's going to fulfill that promise when it comes to Jack. It always kills me that from this moment on that Aaron is going to put all of the blame and guilt on himself and I feel so much for him for that. I feel for all of the team in this episode too because they tried absolutely everything in their power to find Haley and Jack, not only because they are Hotch's family but because they care for them too. It's shown by all of their different reactions to hearing the gunshot too. They really are his family, especially with the way they were all defending him and protecting him against Strauss. Spencer's "I have a eidetic memory and that's not what happened." is absolutely amazing and i love hearing it everytime!
