I mean its a show that has music it's not really a musical show there are some songs where they first interact with the living but mostly its a show that has music in it not much elements of musical shows inside it.. except for maybe julie's song where it's very high school musical bc Kenny ortega was the choreographer/producer of this show he contributed heavily in the making of this show!

on no they are an actual band its crazy there is a whole thing on youtube called behind the band and its about how they came together and made all the music in the show and learned to play as a band. its really good and they are all amazing musicians/artist.
