This one gets me! Because everyone has some fear. I'm claustrophobic, so I take the stairs. What you said about being buried.... do you know about bell ringers? They used to be posted in graveyards to listen. When someone was buried, they tied a string to the finger and ran it to a bell above ground. Because, back before modern medicine, people sometimes did accidently get buried alive (especially during plagues). If the bell started ringing, there were people nearby to dig them up. There is no actual account of someone being saved this way, but it was a trend in the middle ages and through the 18th and 19th centuries. This is believed to be where the saying "saved by the bell" comes from.
