Causes:

When my recipes are updated/changed in a certain way, it can cause a lot or your save to trigger an error, and it will refuse to load. I've never seen this error damage a save, but if you follow the instructions laid out in the Installation & Updates post, you should have a backup in case it does.

If I anticipate this could be an issue with one of my updates, I will usually give you a heads-up with the Changelog.

How to Fix It:

The way my mods are structured, this is easily fixed by doing the following:

(These instructions assume you've taken the steps in the Installation & Updates post. )

  1. Remove the recently updated recipe files OR
  2. If you're unsure of which recipes are causing the issue, then remove all of the following files from your Sims 4 > Mods folder: Crafting Recipes, Food & Drink Recipes, Crafting Mods like Cowplant Farming, Cheesemaking Skill, and Canning Skill.
  3. Open your game and load the save/lot you're having issues with.
  4. Save your game and exit. (I use the 'Save As' option to keep the original save intact, but that's just my preference.)
  5. Re-install the files that you removed.
  6. Clear your Cache.

Load your game, and it should be working again!

Still Won't Load?

There is another more tedious option if the steps above don't work for you, although with the way my files are structured you shouldn't need to use it. Just in case you need it:

  1. Restore the Mods folder and Save you backed up initially.
  2. Open your save and go through the entire lot and all storages and delete all of my recipes and ingredients.
  3. Save your game and exit. (You could also use the 'Save As' option to keep the original save intact)
  4. Install my content as usual, following the instructions from the Installation & Updates post.

If your game still doesn't load after following these instructions, then you'll need to Troubleshoot it and find the file(s) that are causing it.
