I got a little carried away with this but ultimately I'm really happy that I did. Originally I had made just a regular candle but once I put the recipe together and had my test sim craft them I felt it didn't add enough to the gameplay. It felt like, what's the point? I can buy candles if I want them and even if I added a special buff to the candle it didn't quite feel like it was worthwhile (at least for me) to craft them.

So I came up with the idea of candles that actually melt when you burn them. Not only does this add a layer of being more realistic, but it also gives your sim a reason to continue to craft candles. They'll last for a certain number of sim hours then they'll be reduced down to a disc of wax that can be used as an ingredient for new candles. They are portable so you can take them to the graveyard to leave at a grave or you can take it to be used for traditions/events on other lots. I thought it would be pretty neat to go to the graveyard and potentially see dead flower arrangements and spent candles at grave sites. I'm also working on making them last longer if better quality, and having the quality based on the quality of the ingredients used to craft them. If that doesn't work, I'll look into creating a skill to go with them later.

You can see in the image above the 3 melted stages and the original unlit stage. The candle will only melt if it is lit so you can keep your candle longer if you snuff it out when not using it. This will be especially important for the candles that have special interactions/broadcasters on them.

This was a beast of a project tuning-wise, a lot of it is custom. The great thing about this is now that I've taken the time to put it together, it lays the foundation for a bunch of other mods I've wanted to make but wasn't sure how to implement. I'm really excited for what I'm going to be able to do with this in the future!!!
