January Animation Poll - News Update (Patreon)

I'd like to wish you all a belated happy new year! I opened the January animation poll to eligible tiers. The options are as follows, themed for LEWD:

NOTE: This is not the actual poll, the actual poll is in a separate post visible to patrons who are able to vote (Citizen tier and above).

In other news

I've sent the animation off to be furnished with audio. The timeline for completion is unknown but it should be more than worth the wait.

I understand the need to differentiate between tiers... though I question whether having 10% of your patrons decide what the other 90% of your patrons see, especially when the later group contributes 60+% of your patreon income (assuming no one/few in the $15 tier contribute more than $15).

I understand your concerns. There are multiple reasons why things are set up the way they are and not all of those reasons are indisputably the best or optimal. I’ll be frank. The Patreon setup is still carrying some baggage from when I first inexpertly set it up nearly 3 years ago, that’s to say I didn’t know what I was doing at the time and about 18 months ago I restructured the Patreon to mitigate some of that. The effective result of that restructuring was that all tier pledge amounts were halved for current patrons and all future patrons would be paying only 75% of the old tier amount for the same reward. This was a substantial risk to take on my part that fortunately paid off in the long run. At the time nobody took issue with this because of course because they were pledging half what they used to for the same reward! Now that the Patreon has grown with leaps and bounds the distribution between the tiers has grown further apart and with it the weight of concerns such as yours increase. The benefits that older patrons experienced with the restructuring no longer carries any weight in this regard and nor should it. Unfortunately, the Patreon has picked up momentum in terms of what what people expect, what they get and what they have gotten in the past. As the Patreon grows it becomes increasingly difficult to change things without creating further issues. However, that’s not to say I won’t change things up. I’m planning some changes currently although those will most likely not alleviate your concerns on this topic, I nevertheless thank you for your feedback. You have given me a lot to think about going forward into 2019 and while I cannot promise anything with regards to the topic at hand, I will endeavor to keep things as fair and equitable as I possibly can.

Thanks for the well thought out and thorough response! I'm actually a serial non-voter myself (I have voting rights in at least 10 patreons and I don't ever use them). My chief concern would be that since this patreon trade output quantity for quality (you do better stuff, not more stuff), that the voting could have a stronger impact. Basically forcing patreons to decide if worth paying more to steer the content toward what they like, or just unsub because they know the next 2-3 months will likely be occupied with content they don't care about. I personally treat Patreon more as a "support the artist" platform, so it's less of a concern for me.
