Hi everyone, as you might have already seen the Bear extruder and X axis 1.0.0 have been release! To reduce the long "Bear extruder and X axis" name I have now set a shorter nickname called BearExxa.

Full release note: https://github.com/gregsaun/bear_extruder_and_x_axis/releases/tag/1.0.0

Main page: https://github.com/gregsaun/bear_extruder_and_x_axis/blob/master/README.md

What's new ?

  • Now compatible with E3D Hemera (BearMera)
  • Tighter PINDA mount
  • Self centering of X motor mount
  • X carriage reinforced
  • Cable guide back for extruder wires is now compatible with 2.85mm nylon filaments for the cable guide
  • Documentation has been improved to make things easier and cleaner to navigate and find information
  • Other smaller improvements
  • Bear calibration firmware is now in version 3.9.0 (based on latest Prusa firmware 3.9.0)

What's new for Hemera since last Patreon-only release?

The part pinda_mount.stl has been beefed up a little bit, not necessary to update.

Compatibility

Please check this page: https://github.com/gregsaun/bear_extruder_and_x_axis/blob/master/README.md#compatibility

Parts that needs to be replaced since release 0.7.0-beta

Here is a list of what you should replace or not from Bear extruder and X axis 0.7.0-beta:

  • Want to use the E3D Hemera extruder -> replace all parts
  • Your PINDA mount is getting loose -> replace extruder_body and extruder_cover
  • Your X carriage has some cracks around square nuts -> replace x_carriage and x_carriage_back
  • You are using a 2.85mm filament to guide the extruder cables -> replace cable_guide_back_a and cable_guide_back_b

Does anyone sell a kit excluding printed parts for the hardware to upgrade from mk3s?

Great work Grégoire! I have a revo hemera, are you planning to update the nozzle fan duct for a better fit? Thanks for sharing your work!

Grégoire Saunier

Yes I will improve the nozzle fan duct after the launch of BearExxa V2. Unfortunately I am not planning to do more with Hemera because the priority will be the Y linear rail after that. Maybe after the rail...
