Hello, a bit of a sad one potentially.

Since Unity is planning on pulling through with adding fees based on download counts on your games, free or not, I'm going to place the development of the Toy Chica WG game on hold until I find another engine that is based on C#, free to use and handles both 2D and 3D.
I already have my eyes on a few but I am open for suggestions from you all.

I am not comfortable working on anything Unity based until there's confirmation on whether or not they pull through or cancel their plans to roll out these changes.

Thank you, hope you have a good week. And as always, thanks a world for your support!

I'm sorry. Unity did WHAT?!

Effective on January 2024 (if they don't roll back on it from the backlash), once your game, free or not, reaches 200,000 installs or $200,000 in sales a year, they're going to start charging the new Unity Runtime Fee. Doesn't sound bad for small indies and the minimum fee doesn't sound bad for sure, but then... what if there's a sudden spike in downloads by the thousands? What if someone maliciosly mass installs and gets devs in debt because "a little bit of trolling"? Whatever the case, I for one am not comfortable using the engine or sharing anything I've made with it if these are the plans.

not sure how viable Godot is for 2d and 3d assets, but it has C# support

Yeah, I downloaded it the first thing since it was high on my list, and after playing around with it I feel I can get used to it. It’s very light weight and its own programming language isn’t too hard to learn after all with my existing C# knowledge, but the option to use C# is always there
