This show gets even crazier the more it progresses, my brother is loving it too, it’s just so Goddamn good

Great reaction and episode as always! For some context on Nanaba screaming about "father," I consider it one of the most depressing and horrific death scenes given the implicit context It was just a short scene in the overall scheme of the story and there's nothing else that explicitly explains it later, so we had to just let that settle in to eventually realize the harrowing explanation for it: It implies that Nanaba was likely horrifically abused by her father when she was a child. As such, upon death's door, being held and physically wrangled, she was reminded of such memories and the emotional distraught she felt then were triggered in that moment That coupled with Gelgar's death where he couldn't even get a drink in legit made this episode just straight up difficult to sit through, especially since they were portrayed as such badass MVPs moments before

Wow. That is a crazy new insight. I always thought it was just her life flashing before her eyes and remembering her family which i guess it still could be, but the interpretation you gave is so dark and makes me look at it in a new light. Knowing AOT I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it was

Ahaha thank you! Yeah the nature of her death just stuck out to me way too disturbingly for me not to really dig into the whys. She didn't say "I miss you father." She didn't say "save me father." Even a simple "I'm sorry father" would make me presume chances are she just felt general guilt about a hypothetically decent dad But no, not only does she apologize to a father who's nowhere in sight, she follows it up with "I won't do it again," implying the apology wasn't representative of some generalized guilt, but rather a specific callback to traumatizing punishment, one in which her horrifying situation reminded her of
