Can't get enough of Tamberlane? Tales from Tamberlane is a collection  of short canon comics drawn by guest artists for the Tamberlane Patreon! Each comic is released via private message as a PDF download. The PDF contains not only the 5-page guest comic but behind-the-scenes artwork and writeups, extra lore and worldbuilding, and lots of awesome stuff you don't get to see in the main comic!

Every month a new one is released to all patrons who, on the fifth of the month, are pledging $5 or more. After 1 month, they're made available for purchase to all patrons; after 3 months, the public can purchase them as well!

Half of all sales go to the artist who drew them. Support your local indies!

Tales from Treehollow FAQ

Hey all! There's always lots of questions about the Tales from Treehollow (previously called Monthly Bonus Comics), so here's a handy FAQ!

Ready to get your comics? Pledge $5 Here

Q: What are these bonus comics?

A: I've always wanted to do more canon, bonus comics but my disability keeps me from making as many main comic pages as I want, much less extra ones! So every month, I hire a guest artist to draw a short canon comic written by either me or my co-writer Ari "Metajoker" Borhanian on a subject you guys suggest and vote on! They come packed with lore and commentary, as well as bonus behind the scenes art (as available).

Q: Is this a new comic, or a comic that was already released?

A: This is a brand new comic, written with the help of Patreon every month!

Q: How do I access this comic? Is it available now?

A: The comics are made on roughly a one-month cycle, and they are released via Patreon Message all at once (NOT via a post!). Once the 5th of the month passes, I have a list of everyone pledging $5 and more, and within a couple weeks of the 5th, the comic gets distributed! (Depends on if the guest artist needs extra time. I want to make sure my artists are working safely!)
Once the comic is distributed, I will always drop a post that lets folks know the messages have gone out. That way if folks didn't get it, they can reach out.

Q: Is it only for new patrons?

A: Nope! This is for ALL patrons at $5 and above! You just have to be pledging at $5 or above on the 5th of the designated month to receive it.

Q: Is there any way I can get previous months' comics?

A: You may purchase previous months' comics on the shop! Some may have a passcode to access, which you can find on this post up above.

Q: How do you decide on the topics of the guest comics?

A: As a $5+ patron, you are able to throw suggestions into the hat via the #oakewoods-inbox channel on the Foxglove Comics Discord! Once I have a handful of ideas, I then put them up for $15+ folks to vote on. I've lately started to gather multiple top-voted ideas together at once so we can write a bunch of scripts in a row, to cut down on the wait for my guest artists to get their script.

Q: How do you decide on the guest artists?

A: First priority for me is to showcase the talents of the others in Foxglove Comics. After that, I have a handful of friends and contacts I'm able to ask, and I often poll folks for artist ideas. There are a number of other artists that folks have been hopeful for, and once I've had a chance to reach out to them, we'll find out how feasible they are. Cross your fingers!

Q: I hear you put cameos in the bonus comics! How do you decide on those?

A: I do try to slip in as many Patron cameos from the cameo tiers ($50+) as I can! And I do this simply because the main story takes so long, and several cameos have been waiting a long time for a feature. This frustrates me endlessly, because I always want to give my awesome supporters their rewards as soon as possible. So I started squishing cameos into the bonus comics!
I choose the cameos primarily on who's been waiting the longest to have real page time, AND who fits into the premise the best. These cameo pages do count toward your total page count.

Q: Why do you have a cut-off date for qualifying to receive them that's so much earlier than the delivery date?

A: So, I'm using Patreon's special offer system for the delivery of these comics. That means that I need to set a deadline, and that it results in a list of recipients for me when the offer ends. The deadline is set far ahead for two reasons:
1. While I'm making the PDF for the comic, I need everyone's Patreon name far enough ahead that I can actually fill out the Thank You page in the PDF, and make sure everyone's had time to update their nickname as needed.
2. Although I have a loose deadline for my artists shortly after the Patreon deadline, I often grant extensions so that they can get the work done without overworking themselves. On the same token, I can take that extra time to make sure the PDF is nice and polished on my end. The release date is wiggly so that I have that freedom to keep my artists from working themselves to death, since I work with some ambitious sorts!
