Hey all! I mentioned last week that I spent some time pitching a graphic novel to agents on the twitter event #DVPit (I think it's short for "diverse voices pitch"). Over the course of two days (one for YA and one for GNs), I wrote a series of brief pitches for Wartorn, something I've been noodling on for ... oh my god, six years. It's come a long way.

I am pleased to say that I have 9!!!! agents interested in receiving a longer pitch packet for Wartorn, so I'm going to be noodling on that in between other things. This is by no means a guarantee that I'll be able to get an agent for it this round, but it gets me out of the slush pile and into the solicited pile instead. Yay!

I've never really done pitches for traditional publishing before. I tried pitching Tamberlane in last year's #PitchWars but, despite a bit of interest, Tamberlane will always remain independently published. It just isn't the right format for a traditionally published book (or series of books). And I would honestly not trust an agent/editor who DIDN'T tell me to radically pare down/redo a lot of what's been done so far, because Tamberlane is and always has been an experimental project and a learning experience.

Anyway. One of the things I want to negotiate with my agent, if/when I get one, is Patreon access to materials, so if production on Wartorn takes off, y'all will still get to see some behind-the-scenes. We'll see how it goes!

ALL OF THIS TO SAY... sorry Tamberlane briefly took a back seat last week. I drew a lot of stuff over those days to try and see what kind of response I could get, and I'm really happy to see that I've got something people are interested in.

In the meantime, I'm clawing my way through Tamberlane work but I'm also ... very tired. Achey, brainfoggy. Probably flaring again. I know this is like "what's new" territory, BELIEVE ME I KNOW uggh. But I'm still working! Chipping away at stuff >:)

Hope you enjoy the post yall!

I hope the editors don’t cut that amazing quetzalcoatl.

Good luck! I'm happy to have Tamberlane get delayed if it means you get a full-on published book! PS Chunky unicorns FTW :)

So uh, I'm kinda new here. When you say "half phoenix dragon", does that mean one of his parents was a phoenix dragon, or that one was a dragon and one was a phoenix?
