Merry Christmas, those who celebrate! I spent a bit of today cooking up a little myth for you for a commonly celebrated Winter Holiday in Treehollow: Wulfnacht!

Like any myth, there is no evidence for a real Moon Hare or Sun Wolf, but they follow the traditions as a way to have family time and share warmth, food, and light at a time when the year is darkest.

Some traditional foods are stews, breads, ciders, wines, haunches of venison (for the carnivores), honey cakes, and preserved fruits.

Though Christmas isn't the longest night of the year, time is squishy when you don't live by clocks. So the whole week surrounding the Solstice and Christmas and whatnot is traditionally celebrated, and each family chooses their own Wulfnacht within the week (usually by whatever is most convenient for them).

And, of course, Wulfnacht has a companion holiday in Summer called Hasetag.
