Man, the apothecary really needs to sand their crates down. Splinters are no bueno!

Composition Notes

I had a bitch of a time with this page. I think I changed the script for it five times while I was working on it. The folks watching the stream got to see me shuffle around the three panels at the top of the page in multiple configurations.

I've been experimenting with depth of field lately, trying to blur out the background when it's not a main focus so that it doesn't compete with the characters. I went a little further today, with Tamberlane's head in the fifth panel being slightly blurry as well, to adjust focus to her open palm.

Anyway, actual composition notes:

Originally, the top panels were arranged 2-1-3 but I thought that it put Oakewood's panic reaction far too late. I'm still not 100% happy the way it is, but eh.

When Oakewood is facing to the right on this page, he's engaging with Tamberlane and her plight. When he's turned to the left, he's taking a disciplinarian role, turning away emotionally from her. It's scary, looking after kids. They do things that make you panic and you don't want them to see the fear on your face. You get angry and defensive.

The major accomplishment i had was the speech bubbles in the last panel. I made sure to space Oake's bubbles out so that there's that lingering on the sentiment, followed quickly by Tamberlane's protest. The way it's laid out, you don't get a chance to see Twitchel's speech bubble yet, even though his would theoretically be the next to read in a left-right-top-down order. That's the way I wanted it.

Anywho! That's it for this page B) See ya later in the week!
