Main Story Epilogue - Clear Air and Blue Skies

Friday, May 14th.

There's only half a month left until summer. Therefore, even in the morning, the sunlight directly pouring on me is quite warm. But, the cool breeze that I receive as I pedal my bicycle reminds me that it is still spring.

Eventually, I see the usual underpass that is my meeting place with Hiori. It’s still just past eight, huh? I came early. I wonder if Hiori is already waiting for me.

As I pedal while feeling excited, I see Hiori waiting under the overpass, wearing a cardigan.

“Hiori.”

When I call her name, Hiori immediately turns towards me. And with a cute smile,

“Akito-san!”

She cheerfully says my name while widely waving her hand toward me. Such a cute girl has become my lover. This is happiness. Since I am riding my bicycle, I give a small wave with my left hand.

Arriving under the overpass, I get off my bicycle.

“Good morning, Hiori.”

“Good morning, Akito-san. I was looking forward to meeting Akito-san more than ever before.”

“Me too. I arrived here pretty early since my bicycle goes so smoothly, but to think Hiori is already here. As expected of Hiori.”

“I like meeting up after all. I've said it before but, I like waiting for people I really want to meet.”

Hiori says while showing a calm smile.

It looks like from now on too, when I go to this underpass, Hiori will most likely already be here waiting for me. I shouldn’t take advantage of her words just now, and make sure I can be there by the promised time of 8:10.

“Then, shall we go to school?”

“Ah, um. Before we move... um...”

Hiori's cheeks turn slightly red and she glances at me.

“I-I'd like a good morning kiss... is what I thought.”

“...G-good morning kiss, huh?”

Truly lovers-like.

My heart skips a beat when I hear the word kiss. I vividly remember that during the study session break yesterday, Hiori and I kissed a lot. At that time, it felt really good and I felt happy.

“I remembered that there were many romance manga and novels that I had read that depicted scenes like that. And I would like to do it with Akito-san as well.”

“I see. There are scenes where married couples and couples who live together kiss in the morning. Then, shall we try... a good morning kiss too?”

“Yes. Good morning, Akito-san.”

“Good morning, Hiori.”

We exchange morning greetings, and Hiori gives me a good morning kiss.

Since we're doing it outside, the kiss feels very fresh. The soft and cool breeze is comfortable as it carries the sweet smell of shampoo from Hiori's hair. Partly because of that, it feels refreshing.

After a few seconds, Hiori moves her lips away from mine. When I slowly open my eyes, I see Hiori there with a happy smile on her face.

“Kissing outside is nice too, isn’t it?”

“...Yeah.”

“Also, I'm happy that I was able to kiss Akito-san in the morning.”

“Me too. I feel like today is going to be a good day.”

“That's how it feels, isn't it? Then, shall we go to school?”

And then, I start walking towards school with Hiori. We met up earlier than our scheduled meeting time, so we are walking slowly.

“The air is refreshing, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, it is. The skies are blue too, it's a nice season.”

“That's true. This is my favorite season because the weather is nice. But, thanks to Akito-san, I think I'll like it even more from now on.”

“I think I'll like it too.”

Because I started dating Hiori as a trial lover, and we became official lovers. I'm sure Hiori has the same reason. I'd be happy if that's the case.

“Now that I think about it, I'm glad we both got congratulations from our families.”

“That’s right.”

At dinner last night, I told my parents and sister that I had started officially dating Hiori. When I did, everyone was really happy, and my mother and sister even did banzai many times. My father was clapping while smiling calmly.

When I called Hiori after dinner, she told me that she had also informed Nanami-chan and Ryou-san during dinner that she had started officially dating me. Nanami-chan was overjoyed, and Ryou-san calmly said, “Congratulations,” as he seemed to shed tears while smiling. When I heard it at that time, I thought once again that I would cherish Hiori.

Also, I received a message from Nanami-chan saying, [Congratulations on your official relationship! Please take care of Onee-chan for many years to come!]. I was so happy since I started dating Hiori that I thought about replying, [Let's become step-siblings someday], but that sounded kind of gross, so I decided against it.

“I did report directly to Youko-san, but I also want to greet Ryou-san and Nanami-chan.”

“I also would like to greet Akito-san's family.”

“Then, let's greet them together sometime soon.”

“Yes, let’s do that.”

If I greet him and say we're officially dating... I wonder how Ryou-san will react. After all, when I greeted him and said that I was dating her on a trial basis, Ryou-san grabbed both of my shoulders firmly. I'm feeling a little scared now.

Come to think of it, last night I talked to Hiori on the phone and through messages, and I received messages from a lot of my friends congratulating me on starting a relationship with Hiori, perhaps having heard of it from Kazuo and others. But, I didn’t receive any contact from Kazuo, Shimizu-san, Himura-san, or Hazuki-san. I have a bad feeling about this.

Before I know it, I am walking down the road near my school. Beside us is the park where Hiori's confession took place yesterday. I can also see the bench where I was sitting with Hiori side by side. It makes me recall yesterday's confession.

We arrive at school, and I park my bicycle in the bicycle parking lot.

“Now then, shall we go?”

“Okay.”

I do a lover’s hold with Hiori and we head to the Year 2 Class 2 classroom.

There sure are a lot more students looking at us today. It might’ve already spread that we've started officially dating.

I open the front door, and we enter the Year 2 Class 2 classroom.

“Ooh, here are the two people who have become an official couple!”

“Congratulations to both of you! Especially Kamitou-kun! Your first love has come true!”

I receive those kinds of words of congratulations as most of the students in the classroom applaud us. Being congratulated this much sure makes me happy. Hiori also has a happy smile on her face. I'm sure Kazuo and the others have told them that Hiori and I have started dating.

And then, as for those Kazuo and the others... as usual, the four of them are gathering around Kazuo's seat. They are also clapping at us.

I put my bag on my desk, and together with Hiori, head over to Kazuo and the others.

“Everyone, good morning.” (Hiori)

“Good morning. Did you tell everyone that we started dating?” (Akito)

“Yeah! It's a congratulatory thing after all! Well, I told my friends yesterday, and they must have spread the word, because when we came to the classroom, quite a few people already knew.” (Kazuo)

“We also told the track and field club, didn’t we?” (Miu)

Hiori is very popular and well-known. And the fact that we were dating on a trial basis had spread throughout the school over the past half month or so. That's why the fact that we officially started dating also spread quickly, that’s probably it.

“I received messages from my friends last night giving me congratulations.”

“Me too. But, Saaya-san and the others didn't contact me at all.”

“It's your first day officially dating, so to not put a damper on things, we wouldn't call or text Kamitou and Hiori. We decided that during the study session”

“Besides, we also agreed that we could just ask Hiorin and Kamitou-kun how you spent your time with just the two of you during your study session at school today-ssu.”

“I see.”

Not only during the study sessions, but even at night, I was having fun talking with Hiori over the phone and through messages. The four of them may have anticipated this and decided not to contact us.

“So, let me ask you right away-ssu... how far have the two of you gone-ssu?”

Hazuki-san asks while grinning. This makes me vividly remember my kiss with Hiori. Aah... my face is getting hot. Perhaps it's the same for Hiori, she lets out a cute voice, “Hauu,” and a blush appears on her face, mostly on her cheeks.

“That reaction between the two of you... i-it can’t be... have you done all kinds of things on the bed?”

Himura-san asks, her face turning redder than Hiori’s. Geez... what do you think we've done?

Perhaps because of Himura-san's words just now, Hazuki-san and Shimizu-san's cheeks are also turning red. Kazuo smiles wryly.

Hiori's entire face turns bright red like a ripe apple, and,

“W-we kissed! W-we didn’t get in bed!”

She says in a high-pitched voice. The flustered Hiori is so fresh and cute. Also, isn't Hiori thinking about various things because of Himura-san’s words?

“It’s as Hiori said, we kissed. We did it many times though.”

“I-I see.”

Is it because she knows the truth now? The redness on Himura-san's face subsides a little.

Also, perhaps because Hiori said ‘kiss’ with a loud voice, many of the students in the classroom turn to look at us. Among them, some even come close to us.

“Come to think of it, the two of you hadn't kissed yet at the park yesterday. ...I'm interested in how it’ll look when you kiss.” (Kyoko)

“I want to see it too-ssu. I want to use it as a reference for my future works-ssu.” (Saaya)

“Kamitou-kun saw me kissing Kazuo-kun before, so I think I want to see it too.” (Miu)

“I want to see it too.” (Kazuo)

Himura-san and the others stare intently at me and Hiori. If you say this much, I guess we'll have no choice but to kiss.

“Hiori, what do we do?”

“I... I’m fine with it.”

As Hiori says that in a cuter voice than usual, she looks into my eyes and smiles.

“I got it.”

I stand facing Hori and gently grab both of her shoulders.

“Hiori, I love you.”

“I love you too, Akito-san.”

Saying that, Hiori closes her eyes.

When I think that everyone is watching me, I get quite nervous. But, when I see Hiori with her eyes closed, waiting for me to kiss her, my nervousness naturally melts away. As if I am being sucked into her lips, I kiss Hiori.

The moment I kiss Hiori, I hear voices, such as “Ooh!” and “Kyaa!” and applause from those around me.

When I pull my lips away, I see Hiori smiling happily as she stares at me. I’ve had many people smile at me, including Himura-san and our classmates, but Hiori's smile is cuter than anyone else's. I want to protect this smile. When I think that, I start loving her even more.

I hug Hiori and kiss her again.
