84 - Who am I fighting?

RAW

I have a [hobby].
The knowledge and ability I have acquired until now is to make the most of my [hobby].
As you probably already know, my [hobby] is to train and perfect others. I really don't care about the consequences it brings...

And yet.
Randy was going overboard with his hedonism and flew in a terrible direction.
On the other hand, once I take a quick look at the newspaper articles, there are reports of my students born as a result of my [hobby] active all over I Confederacy.
Marriage and divorce between party members.
Infidelity and adultery... and even being acclaimed by the mass media as a harem group.
I sighed. I guess that’s just how it is after all.

Fortunately, the fact that I was the one who taught these people who were doing outrageous things has not been found out yet.
However, to make matters worse, anomalies began to occur within the academy.

Ekaterina raised this issue at a staff meeting in the salon.

“Recently, the public morals within the academy have begun to deteriorate.”

The dormitory supervisors who are aware of this expressed their agreement.
Starting with Nyanna.

“Nya-nya... I guess it would be the Flart-kun from my dormitory... somehow, his grades have been improving dazzlingly, but he's formed a harem of girls, nya. And there are some girls who even have arranged marriages among them. I’ve warned him about it but...”

Next, Edgar takes a deep breath.

"Mine is Makarossa, who just recently won the I Confederacy Academy’s Finest Student award! I wonder if young people get carried away easily. I warned them too, but both Makarossa and the girls around him show no sign of remorse!!”

Basili too, still irritated and wrinkling his eyebrows as usual, says.

“It’s still fine since Flart and Makarossa you're talking about don't have court rank. The problem is Alexander, who belongs to my dormitory! What's more, even though his political marriage partner Christiana is in the same dormitory, he left her out and made a harem!!”

Riccarda, the one in charge of the history department, also seems to calmly make a judgment, probably because she has experienced an engagement annulment from a political marriage.

“For that reason, there is a [shadow] attached to every student who holds a court rank and has an arranged marriage. The question is whether we should look for a trend within the academy to see if it will develop to an engagement annulment commotion. We can’t afford to aggravate the situation...”

Dalmazio, a physical man who would not have been associated with romance, tilts his head.

“Aren't they just getting along well? Besides, all the men are at an age where they want to be popular! Riccarda-sensei already taught them that the fiasco of an engagement annulment is important enough to make a splash in history!! They're just enjoying the atmosphere. That’s what I think! Right, Zekkiro-sensei!!”

Zekkiro jumps when he is suddenly talked to.
Basili laughs through his nose sarcastically.

“Your dormitory has no love affairs, huh. As usual, what a gloomy dormitory it is.”

“This one’s, no, my dormitory has no, umm, commotions or problems, so don't worry...”

In place of Zekkiro, whose voice gradually became quieter, Ekaterina cast her eyes down and called out, “Basili-sensei,” in a warning.
Basili said amiably.

“I don't mean it in a bad way. Principal Ekaterina. I was praising it as a characteristic feature of Zekkiro-sensei's dormitory.”

After hearing the whole report, I also let out a sigh inside my heart.
None of them are good students in the true sense of the word like Midia and Randy, huh.
I don't know if I should praise Randy, but I feel like he's still better as a chivalrous thief, my other students though...
So it is necessary to not just train them, but also educate them as members of society?
Actually, the people who have been mentioned are just a few of my students... There are quite a few other people who are getting carried away and forming a harem. Even in my classes, there are even some with that kind of atmosphere.

Still though...
My assigned status. Although I have the title of A-rank adventurer, my status is that of a commoner.
Whether it was against students or teachers, I'm not in a position to come out strong at them. You can think of me as the worst or whatever. This is for self-protection.

However, Ekaterina also asked for my opinion.

“By the way, what are your thoughts, Josiah-sensei?”

“...Unfortunately, I don't know much about romance. I can't judge to what extent the student's movements hint at romance. I'm sorry for my amateur opinion, but if you're that concerned, how about holding a course on it?”

Basili repeated back, “A course?” with a truly mocking tone of voice.
I can't guarantee the effect either, but I have a certain degree of familiarity with the standard engagement annulment pattern.

“This is just trivia, but the biggest problem when it comes to an engagement annulment is the annulment of an arranged marriage itself――right? I think there are many cases where the parties themselves do not understand their own position, and annulled the arranged marriage without anticipating what kind of situation will happen. Shouldn't we make sure that the person in question has that understanding, even if only metaphorically? We are teachers after all, so is it not our duty to follow up on things that students don't understand?”

When I speak of it that much, for some reason everyone falls silent.
It was Ekaterina who broke the silence, saying, “Yes, that’s true.”

“Then, let’s hold a special course targeted toward students who have arranged marriages.Yes, that would be good... it will also be part of our social studies. The schedule will be decided later, but may I ask Riccarda-sensei to be the teacher?”

“Yes... if you’re okay with me.”

She nodded, although with a complicated expression on her face, perhaps due to Riccarda's own circumstances.
Wait, why is my proposal adopted so smoothly?
Basili pointed it out on my behalf.

“Wait! Why are you adopting the proposal of a temporary teacher!? Ekaterina!... Principal.”

“My opinion just happens to match Josiah-sensei’s. I’ve been thinking of doing that from the start anyway.”

Edgar asks back curiously.

“Rather, what are you dissatisfied with? Basili-sensei. I myself didn't think it was a bad proposal.”

“...No.”

Basili desperately glares back at me, it seems I’m being hated, huh.
The tense staff meeting is over.
After that... once the special course was held, some of the harem groups became quiet, no, it seemed like they had disappeared. Most of them are people who have court rank.
I thought they had a love-obsessed brain, but it turns out they were just scumbags clinging to status and power.
For better or worse, I was relieved.

One day after that.
On a rare day when the weather deteriorated and a downpour started, that girl――Midia came to this academy without warning.

――――

(T/N: there are some ‘na’ changed to ‘nya’ in Nyanna’s speech, but I don’t know how to translate it.)
