78 - Josiah and the Bizarre Dorm Managers

RAW

When tailoring my clothes, the tailor said, “I heard you were young.” “So I was thinking of matching it with bright colors.” “The colors don't match you at all. But even if the color scheme of an old man suits you, as expected, that’s a bit.” things like that, as he matches the color of my clothes.
For the time being, the clothes would be completed by the day of the entrance ceremony, so I walked away today.

I only have my glasses with me.
It’s a simple silver-rimmed glasses for presbyopia in terms of power that I get completed quickly.
A chain is attached to the glasses so that they can be worn for a short time when my vision becomes hazy.
I don't usually wear it, I'd hang it on a chain or put it in my breast pocket or something.

...As I thought, is that how it is?

There are still many mysteries regarding the principle of experience points... magic and skill levels in this world.
The reason why it’s not progressing, though, is because very few people are trying to figure it out.
At least in my case, it's presumed that my aging progressed due to the harsh consumption of magic power in A Empire.
Put it the other way round, if you don't use that much, you won't be able to acquire [Holy] at a young age.

My lifespan also being reduced――there might be something like that.
Aah, but wait.
If I'm not mistaken... The magic circle department's dormitory supervisor was a necromancer.

Normally, magicians should be in charge of this department, but the current situation is that the number of magicians who are well versed in this minor study that have been regarded as outdated is diminishing.
Since they have to hire someone anyway, they choose someone who is knowledgeable about it.
The dormitory supervisor of the pharmacy department is also a pharmacist anyway, and the others――especially the modern social studies and history department which have nothing to do with magic――their supervisor are not magicians either.

I’ve digressed, but how about asking Zekkiro, the dormitory supervisor of the magic circle department, to check my lifespan?
I hear that high-ranking necromancers can see the lifespan of others.
Even if I say lifespan, it's the limit of the number of years of life activity of an individual... It is the lifespan until one reaches senility.
Well, I'd like to hear it if I could, in order to make plans for the future before I get old.

As the entrance ceremony approached, the dormitory supervisors appeared at the school one after another.

The next day, I introduced myself to two people the same way as I always do.

One is Nyanna, who is in charge of the modern social studies department. She was a female beastkin.
In my previous life, girls like her who had pink hair, had a tail that grew out of her ass, and had twitching animal ears and big breasts. There are a lot of guys who like this kind of person... but that's a prejudice. I think it's an appearance that otakus like.

“It's nice to meet nya... you! I'm Nyanna, the dormitory supervisor of the Montever dormitory and I'm in charge of the modern social studies department. I look forward to working with you for the next three years nya... for the next three years!”

Perhaps because she just came back from her home, she greeted me with a smile while occasionally mixing in the sentence endings unique to beastmen.
Ah, this kind of woman seems like she'd be comfortable with someone who has an open mind.
Basically, I guess she treats everyone no matter who they are with a smile.
That's what it looks like...

The other was Basili Bonaventura... the rest is omitted, who was in charge of the pharmacy department, who was glaring at me from beginning to end with wrinkles between his eyebrows. Yes, he is an elf, famous for their peculiar long names.
He has short blonde hair, and his age is... I don't know. He doesn’t look old, so I think he's younger than Giam.
As soon as Basili saw me, he said, “What the hell? What’s with that sloppy appearance!!” and grilled me for my appearance.
I reluctantly explain the situation.

“I'm sorry. I just had my measurements taken by the tailor the other day, so I haven't been provided with any clothes.”

“Haa... commoners are going to increase from now on. Those glasses! ...Hmph. If that's something you've been provided with, then that's fine. From now on, pay attention to everything you wear. You're dealing with the children of the wealthy and nobles! Then you, as a teacher, must also dress respectfully!! Seriously... isn't the wand the only thing of good quality?”

He recognized the rank of the Herkovara wand with just a glance, as expected of a high-ranking pharmacist.
They have corrections to their analysis magic, like [Scan].
Unlike appraisers, it's even said that it's better for pharmacists to be in charge of plant-related identification.

Even so, Basili... looks like he'll put out his mouth even more than Ekaterina. In many ways.
Unfortunately, I had no interest or awareness of fashion, but... it can't be helped.
Should I nibble on knowledge to a small extent at the library or something?

The next day, the one who passed through the gate with tremendous momentum was Edgar from the art department.
With thin black hair, a short beard, a plump and short stature, though not that much for a dwarf, he ran through the gate at speed with a cart carrying painting materials. He was going around looking at every painting in the school.

He even lightly reapplied some of them with earth element defensive magic. He seems to be obsessed with it, so even if I offer to help, I'll probably be quickly turned down.
But well, I have to at least greet him. When I called out to him and introduced myself, he replied, “Aah yes yes” with annoyance while casting defensive magic on the artwork.

“You're a newcomer, aren't you? I'm busy right now. I need to put some proper defensive magic on these! Every year there are idiots... students who try to touch them even after I warned them hundreds of times. Really, I’m sick of it.”

“Certainly… I’m not familiar with art either, but some of the old paints were mixed with minerals that are harmful to the human body. Should I use [Shield] to prevent people from touching them――?”

“Eh, ah, you! You understand don’t you!! That's right, that's totally right!! Most of the paintings that decorate this hall and the parlor of each dormitory are from about 100 years ago, and the minerals used in the paints back then were considered dangerous, so they are in rare shades that can no longer be reproduced today!”

――He continued to speak passionately for a long time.
Edgar is a magician, which is rare among dwarves, but it seems that he is also an artist who is enthusiastic about the processing and changing colors of arts with magic.
By the looks of it, we're going to get along well on friendly terms.

The next day.
I didn't even need to ask him, he came to my room on his own.
He is a large man with red hair, athletic build and large stature.
Surprisingly, this guy is in charge of the magic department――

“I'm Dalmazio, the person in charge of the magic department! Pleased to meet you!! Hm? I heard that a rare young adventurer is coming, but was it my misunderstanding? Hahahahahaha! Oh well!!”

“It’s, it's a pleasure to meet you too.”

“That's right! By the way, I'm the club advisor for [Defertac]! If you're interested, come and watch!!”

I guess he’s a typical hot-blooded type.
No, even from the grade attitude letter of my predecessor, I had a vague feeling that he was like that. Interacting normally with him... it seems possible, and it doesn't seem like my hobby will interfere. But, to be honest, he’s the type who I don't want to get involved with.
By the way, [Defertac] is a sport similar to [American football] in the world I used to live in.
In addition, there are several club activities in this academy, and the dormitory supervisors like Dalmazio act as club advisors.

The only one left is the one who is in charge of the magic circle department, Zekkiro.
Also, the one who is in charge of the history department, Riccarda.

“Aa~h!!! Damn damn damn! Don't mess with me! What [Phantom Thief R]! You damn hypocrite bastard!”

!?

Just as I heard those words that made me doubt my ears, I saw a man with intense indigo hair wearing a black robe, dragging a scythe and heading somewhere, frustrated.

Dalmazio stares in amazement and says.

“Oh?! What's wrong, Zekkiro! This is the first time I've seen someone so angry!!”

So that's Zekkiro... wait, this is not the time for that.
Phantom Thief R, Randy, what has he done?
It was only the next day that I figured it out.
