66 - If the food is bad, the battle is lost

RAW

The food is bad.
Not all restaurants, but food in I Confederacy is frankly bad.
In the beginning, I regularly went to a store that had expanded from another country.

The I Confederacy’s motto is to use the vastness of their land to mass-produce and mass-export agricultural products, seafood and textiles, but their quality is no good.
Despite its disappointing quality, the price is so low that there is no end to the countries seeking trade with I Confederacy.
In order to break the vicious cycle, they probably need to improve the quality of their exports. For that, improving the environment and land for growing crops and textiles as well as the maritime zone is essential.

...That’s certainly true. Those would be essential, but.
As an adventurer, I don't have the opportunity to be actively involved, and all those types of things require qualifications and permits.
As I have no choice, I decided to solve the problem of food by going to other countries' restaurants or cooking for myself.

(Since it is a free country, there is no problem with side jobs. Unauthorized repairs, unauthorized treatments, and unauthorized cleanings are also no problem.)

I carefully checked the law of not only my district――Cameron District, but also the law of all the districts of I Confederacy.
Really, it's a good place to be, except for the food.
There are also side jobs but... I have to post an advertisement for it on the bulletin board in the town hall.
This part is the same as A Empire. It’s quite nostalgic.
Naturally, I will post an ad here.

(Uuumm, offering repairs, cleaning and tidying up using the light element. Also, solving problems related to magic circles. I don't know how much of an impact the expo will have, but I think there are people who might be interested in magic circles and start doing it.)

[I'm a magician, not a healer!]
I posted it in one corner of the bulletin board with a heading that firmly emphasizes my Job.
There are other bulletin boards in various places, so I flew to every place with Herkovara Wand and posted them one after another.

“Well, then. Let's get on with the quest.”

I head to the location of the subjugation quests I already accepted from the guild.
It's not a dungeon investigation because this is an emergency quest.
Whatever it is, the monster has ravaged the field, and part of it was burnt to the ground.
I fly over the sky on my Herkovara wand. Checking the scene from there, I see multiple unnatural burning spots scattered around the area.

“...This isn’t the work of a monster, isn’t it?”

I had only vaguely noticed it, but once I sent out the wand flowers and searched the entire field with [Scan].
I found out that for some reason, fire magic stones are buried in the ground at key points.
There's no trace of it being buried... This is the so-called naturally occurring underground magic stone transformation phenomenon. There are probably――more of those things as well. Fire magic stones that is.
In such cases, there is usually a leading reason why fire-element magic essence gathers.
As far as the surroundings are concerned, this is not the kind place that is surrounded by mountains. Is the fire-element magic essence generated by geothermal heat?

In order to solve everything, I descended to the ground.

After completing the quest, I hand over the quest document signed by the client to the receptionist.

“Thank you for your hard work. I have also confirmed the signature from the client. This concludes the quest. The quest points for this are 500... Currently, Josiah-san's contribution points are 10,500. There are 169,500 points remaining to reach B rank.”

This is how the guild in I Confederacy works.
Rather than doing subjugation quests for small points, all adventurers choose to earn a lot of points by delivering materials from dungeon investigation.

Even so, all the adventurers strangely are aiming for A rank.
Surprisingly, no one complained about the teacher system. Well, someone who has the ambition to get to A rank must be in a good mood as they assert dominance in the academy. Am I the frivolous one for not liking it and thinking it's troublesome?.

Today, let's have lunch at a restaurant from another country, take a rest, and then do some light dungeon investigation in order to be promoted to B rank.
Right then.

“Didn't you hear me!? You’re banished from the party today!”

At the restaurant, an adventurer party who deliberately caused a banishment scandal as if setting an example appeared.
In these cases, the shop can actually sue them for obstruction of business, but surprisingly, there are many people who don't know such a law. The shopkeepers and employees are currently dumbfounded, so I'll tell them later.

The man who was being expelled complained in disbelief.

“Why!? I should have contributed enough as a luggage carrier until now!”

“On the contrary, you didn't do anything other than carry luggage!”

“That's right! It'd be a little better if you can use magic, but all you can do is make weak attacks like a greenhorn. Are you even trying?”

“In the first place, It's ridiculous for a [Merchant] to want to be an adventurer.”

Hm?
Did he say [Merchant]... aren’t they item box holders?
Moreover, their memory is excellent due to corrections related to calculations and business operations. That's why merchants are surprisingly good at memorizing magic circles. It's not well known because magic circles are outdated.
Also, they can memorize the points of the items they deliver... Are they seriously going to banish him?

“I understood it well since the last C-rank dungeon. You won’t be able to follow us from now on. You yourself understand that the most, don't you?”

“...!”

This is, both are to blame.
Both the party that caused such a ruckus in the store and regrettably let go of talented personnel.
As well as the merchant who was unable to do the minimum amount of self-defense in a C-rank dungeon.

That said...
The party, which has thoroughly caused a commotion, started drinking and eating in the shop. While the banished man dragged himself away from the shop.
I promptly paid the bill and called out to the male Merchant.

“Excuse me. I heard from the commotion just now, but is your Job [Merchant], and do you have an item box?”

“Um... That’s right.”

“That's good to know. I'm heading off to investigate a dungeon to earn some points now, so won’t you form a party with me?”

“That’s, fine, but. Why... someone like me?”

“Since I’m solo, it's difficult to earn points by delivering materials. Also, I might be able to help you with your magic. Ah, please leave most of the fighting to me. If you’re lucky and a mimic appears, I will let you defeat it.”

“I, I see.”

The investigation of the C-rank dungeon was easy.

Because I can leave the materials to the male merchant.
As I thought, he is a person with poor magic sense like me, so there would be no problem if he uses magic by drawing a magic circle and activating the technique formula.
Also――the male merchant memorized the contribution points value of the materials, and even calculated the total number of points at the moment.
Really, he was a person who could be used if he was shown the right direction.

“No way, to think I can use magic properly if I activate it using magic circles... I'll take this opportunity to study various things. Thank you for this time!”

“No. The feeling is mutual. Thanks to that, I've earned enough points to reach the required number of points for continuing the C rank.. Also, I hope you have a good party next time. It's better to think that your compatibility with them was bad from the beginning.”

“...I suppose.”

Like this, me and the male merchant disbanded the party and I headed home.
Going solo is easy, but going around with a supporter who has an item box is nice sometimes.

When I went to bed after setting up a barrier as a crime prevention measure, I had a dream for the first time in a while.
