10 - You have 180 seconds to get ready!!!

RAW

After resting in bed for the first time in a long time, I woke up at around 5 in the morning.
I check if the trap I briefly prepared yesterday is complete.

Above the magic circle, a small cage made with [Shield] was completed.

The first thing to do here is to throw one of the monster corpses in there.
Since the target is the Numb Fox, it will be more efficient if you throw in the corpse of its own kind.
But, it’s not like using other monsters would be a problem.
A piece of meat from a horn rabbit or a goblin will do as well. It is recommended that the corpse be as fresh as possible so that the stench of the corpse wafts through the air.
Then you set it up in a suitable location. That's all you need to do.

This is a trap that makes use of monsters' habits.

Monsters attack creatures that are different from themselves… from livestock to humans that do not fall under the monster category.
Another one of their habits is to attack those who are hostile to themselves.

When a monster (their dead kind) is locked in a cage like this, they will judge that the cage has killed their kind = an enemy, and start attacking the cage.
Because they might be killed by the cage too.

And well, about this cage... When it receives an attack from a monster, it has a mechanism that shoots a [Holy Ball] in the direction of the attack.
I incorporated that technique formula into this [Shield Cage].
There is also enough magical power poured into it.

Since my [Holy] itself has power, I should be able to hunt quite a few at a low cost.

This is one of the empire-style tactics.
Obviously. Similar traps can be produced in various ways other than using light magic.
However, this only works on monsters with low intelligence.

For the time being, I’ll be setting ten of these.
As far as the terrain of the [Valley] we're heading for in the quest is concerned, to be honest, ten is definitely not enough.
But I want to look at a number of things.
In addition to the local environment, they may have other ways of doing things in the guild in W Country.

I left the room, but the sun hadn't risen yet, so it was dark outside.
There also is no sign of other adventurers getting up.
I thought I'd try to have a proper meal, so I headed to the kitchen in the lodging house.

The guild employee who was supposed to be the receptionist, if I remember correctly, is sneakily doing something.
The other side overreacted as if she had seen a ghost.

“Hyaah!? Go-good morning...?”

“Good morning. Excuse me, I thought I'd just boil some water or something, but... can I?”

“Eh? I, I see.”

She gave me a strange look, maybe because she didn't know how I, who has light magic, was going to boil water.
I’ll use a fire magic stone.
Just place this thing on top of the fire magic circle and it will activate the magic stone. It will then generate heat.
Not enough to light a fire, but just enough to heat things up.

While I'm finishing the medicinal herb soup, the only thing the employee is working on is arranging the ingredients.
Just when I thought she was going to start making it, she just said, “Well then, I'll be going” and tried to leave.
Do you let the adventurers cook their own meals here?
Apparently, they've got their hands full preparing the buffet over there.

I call out to the employee and stop her.

“Excuse me. I forgot to ask this yesterday…”

“Eh, eh? Eh, ah, yes.”

I ask, ignoring the employee who acts suspiciously surprised.

“I'm thinking of setting traps for today's quest.”

“Traps…? Umm, what’s that??”

“‘What’s that’ you ask? it's a trap for monsters. Setting a trap is――”

“No no~ You can't defeat monsters with traps, you know?”

Holding back an urge to click my tongue, I say.

“What I wanted to ask was not your opinion as a guild employee, but whether it is forbidden to set traps. Or if it’s allowed. That’s it. Is it ok? Or is it not ok??”

“UeEee… Ee, eh? Whether it’s okay to use traps, is there anyone who would use them in the first place?…”

“The documents I was given beforehand didn't contain any prohibitions regarding traps, so can I be sure that it’s not a problem? I don't want to be told later that it wasn't allowed.”

“I-i-i-i-it, It's okay!! For the guild, I think it's fine if it leads to the quicker subjugation of monsters…”

“I understand. Thank you very much”

I drank up the bowl of soup containing medicinal herbs that would give me the day's nutrients in one gulp, and then quickly left the lodging house.
