Blog: A week cut short (07/25/22 - 07/26/22) (Patreon)

Hello Patrons! Lots of things are happening around here, both personally and professionally. I'll fill you in below.
Monday, July 25th
Today definitely did not go as I planned, but it was still an extremely busy day. I didn't get a chance to start on the Super Mario Kart script.
The biggest news of the day was I announced the $12 tier for our Patreon is going away. You can learn more about that here.
But in the meantime, here is some mail I got today for the Mario Kart video!
First up are some Bandai Mario Kart toys! Mario's wheels are broken, but I think I can fix them with super glue. These were some of the first Super Mario Kart toys available on the market.
Next up is a book, Kart Racing! When co-director Tadashi Sugiyama and Hideki Konno decided to use karts as vehicles, they both quickly realized they knew nothing about go-karts. Sugiyama purchased a book to learn more about karts. Perhaps it was this one? We don't know, but I thought it would make good b-roll when I talk about that.
I also picked up this issue of Video Games and & Computer Entertainment. I have this magazine available as a PDF, but I wanted a physical copy to get some high-quality scans of a few photos. This issue has pictures from Famicom Space World '92, and Super Mario Kart was available to play at the show.
Tuesday, July 26th
This morning I finally got started on the Super Mario Kart script. I also recorded a new commentary that will be released on Thursday.
Unfortunately, today was derailed by some personal issues. A few weeks ago, we learned my grandmother's cancer had returned. My mom has been taking care of her, but it has reached a point where my mom needs help. So, I will be leaving to help out the family. I'm not sure how long I will be gone.
I'll be taking my laptop with me so I can continue working on the Super Mario Kart script. A new commentary video will be out on Thursday, July 28th. And a new Gaming Historian episode is scheduled for YouTube on Friday, July 29th.
I apologize for the short work week, but these things happen. I'll be in touch. Take care of yourself!
