Hey kids! This update's been kind of a long time coming. Last month's CoC update was largely due to me having a few issues implementing some of the stuff that I missed the update before, but after some rigorous testing and scripting, I think I've finally got a handle on the "quest" system!

As always, Alex is going to be my guinea pig - that's the consequence of coming first alphabetically, after all!

Instead of giving you a long paragraph about what's going to come, why don't I tell you what I've done with this update! There're a few changes that are going to seem a little confusing now, but will make a lot more sense down the line.

  • Day/Night system has been actually implemented this time. Passing the time from Day to Night will eventually affect more than just the "main" characters, but here's what it changes so far:
    - Alex, Charlie, Clover, Kendra and Margot's schedules have been altered to reflect the split. The days that they work have not changed, but if their place of work isn't open, they'll either be somewhere around town or in their homes.
    - Cutie Pie's and the Broken Stool have had their hours of operation changed to:
    -- Cutie Pie's: Open during mornings (M-F) Closed on weekends (Sa-Su)
    -- Broken Stool: Open during evenings (T-Sa) Closed Su-M
  • Progressing to the Evening is never mandatory. In order to do so, you can either:
    - work at your computer (regardless of job) for a small boost in pay for up to five days
    - choose "nap until evening" at the bed in your apartment.
  • Friendship locks and caps are being tested with Alex. As in, without performing quests, it will be impossible to raise her friendship level beyond a certain point. All characters will eventually have these locks in place, but Alex is currently the only one with this implementation.
    -> Alex currently only has 1 of her planned 3 personal questlines. This is because her 2nd questline heavily involves Clover's 2nd and 3rd questlines, both of which will heavily affect their schedules.
    -->Their "storyline" will be the main focus of the next update, finally giving these characters some more depth. As such, Alex is (temporarily) locked out of her Fat and Huge states. Again, this will be fixed with the next update.
  • [SPECIAL] has been changed (for Alex, and eventually everyone else) to a menu that is accessible, but with options that will appear once certain qualifications are met.
    -- Alex's is straightforward - get her friendship level to 3 and ask her to study when she's off the clock, leading to a small cutscene where your character choices (job, personality, etc) will help things go smoothly (or not!)
    -- The unlock qualifications will happen automatically, though you will not be notified.
    --> Would an unlock sound/notification be something that y'all would like? Let me know and I'll see what I can do!
  • Like and Dislike triggers have been implemented into everyone's gift-giving dialogues! If you give them something that they don't like, now you'll know why they didn't like it! In accordance with her questline, some of Alex's bio triggers have been implemented as well, though not in every instance that they will eventually be written into.
  • Minor bugs and glitches have been addressed as per the bug sheet that is available on my discord channel. These are still under construction, as most of them are cosmetic/tileset issues. See one that's not listed? Check to see if someone else has already caught it!

As always, I appreciate your patronage and patience as I continue to work on this game. Now that I'm finally able to focus on the meat and potatoes of this thing, development should come a lot quicker now - I plan on tackling quests in pairs and making other changes as I go, where I can.
