this took a while! lots of design work went on behind the scenes... well infront of the scenes because I will show you here!

first of I had to design the entire environment ahead of time, I did have a map before this, but without some concrete choices it is hard to draw anything, so here is a 3d model made in maya!

then I had to go deep into designing the characters colors! lotsa interesting patterns this time around! (from left to right, Joss (ftm trans), Lindsay, Keith, Damian)

and finally I had to design a whole new way of lighting the scene, the previous method was useless for midnight stuff. the end result speaks for itself! I am very pleased with how it turned out

I hope to be able to present the first page next week! have a good weekend in the meantime

I've never heard of someone modeling their scenes in 3D ahead of time for a comic. Maybe other artists just don't talk about it, but in any case, I'm impressed at the amount of work you're putting into getting everything right. Really excited for the comic, Café Exposé was already *super* good, so I'm curious if you'll be able to top yourself! :)

yes! I also modeled the cafe from the last comic, it just allows for fast and accurate background art. it helps if a comic is entirely placed in one location X) and I too hope I can top myself!

Way to go! Awesome job on the new lighting and shading schemes.
