Oh it was bad for me

I loved that last scene and how we see Day do some of the emotional labor by helping Mhok. You're right, Mhok had to be so strong for Day this whole series, and he's does such an amazing job anticipating Day's needs, that it's easy to forget that he is watching the man he loves go through something terrible. He's not losing his sight, but his heart is breaking. And I think that Day has accepted what was happening by the end, and he helps Mhok get through it. Just so beautiful. I really want to know if Day's going to end up getting the eye transplants. There's still lots more story to go, and they replayed that scene to remind us about it again in the flashback, so it's possible. But they've done such a great job of getting Day to a place of acceptance for his new life, which makes me wonder. I don't think they'd bring up that option without it coming back before the end of the series. But Day might choose not to have the surgery? Ahh...I'm so impatient! My new theory is that the show ends with the two of them moving back there and Mhok working at that guy's hotel, whether Day gets his vision back or not. And I know I keep laughing at you from my mighty perch of knowing what's going to happen, but in part one when you were like, "Why is everything in this show so emotional?" I was like, "Oh no...."

I was so excited to see your reaction notice in my email. I literally dropped everything and headed to your Patreon page! From the get-go, this episode surpassed the perfection of every episode that preceded it. I pretty much agree with everything you said about the dad situation, and the complicated nuances of what happened between Day and Night. But I think Day's talk with his dad is going to play a big part in how things work out between the brothers. Dad had some insight into Night's situation, and how he's been trying to atone for what happened, even tho he knows he can never really "make it right". I also think that conversation (and the one at the table with Aon, Pla and Sighta) peeled back some more layers of Day's character - why he is the way he is and reacts the way he does to things. Such a subtle way to show character development and growth. I'm hoping that Night comes to Mhok's and Day's defense against Mom next week. That may also help heal some of the wounds between the brothers. As for Mhok ... it is so beautiful the way he can read Day like a book. Just a look and he knows Day needs something or is worried about something. As you said, the way their relationship has developed over the past 9 episodes is so beautiful and organic. Never once has it seemed forced or like things are dragging. The pacing is PERFECT! I loved the perspective we got from Cherry at the Inn, as well. It helped us see more of the background of the book, and helped it relate even more to Day's situation. Plus she was really super sweet to them! I thought P'Aof's choice of darkness and a bit out of focus was perfect for their love scene. It made it feel more like coming from Day's perspective, and only increased the romantic and tender feeling of the scene (along with Sea's version of the song Mhok sang at the bar). And finally, the last scene on the mountain was so incredibly beautiful. While I teared up several times this episode (the Dad scene, the scene at the temple where they walked separately, the love scene, and others), i completely lost it when I saw Mhok cry at the end, knowing that his face would be the last image Day would see. That was too much to handle for me. I think starting next week, Day and Mhok will begin a new chapter in their relationship. I'm thinking maybe Day has progressed to the point where he won't need a full-time caretaker (maybe he'll finally accept some help from Night?), and Mhok will move onto a cook position at Porjai's restaurant. That way he can be a true boyfriend to Day, and eliminate the awkward caretaker vs boyfriend place where they are now. Having been my late husband's caretaker for over 17 years, I know what that is like, working and caretaking at the same time. It will be interesting to see where this leads. I totally agree that Jimmy, Sea and Mark were perfectly cast for these roles. And I'm not afraid to say this is now one of my top 3 favorite BLs of all time, along with "1000 Stars" and "I Feel You Linger in the Air". Hope you have a great week, and see you next time!

Stephanie - thanks for raising the perspective of Mhok's feelings and how Day is helping him as well. It is so true that sometimes the person being cared for returns the favor for the caregiver. I've experienced that myself many times in my years as a hospice nurse. Great point!

A Tale of 1000 Stars truly obliterated me I actually can never rewatch it, it’s too much for me but it solidified EarthMix as my comfort pairing forever I just love them so much. Such a big fan of P’Aof’s work 😭 I also just love your insight as someone who has also been a caretaker, I’m always looking to people who have been through similar experiences to let us know if this is a fair & accurate portrayal and not just a romanticised imagining. It makes me glad to know it’s touching you !!! I feel like this show has rly moved something in me and makes me really hopeful about the way we can all love and care for each other. Anyway… glad you enjoyed 🫶🏻
