Hello gamers! Big apologies for the wait and the slight change in plans. I mentioned in my previous post that I would start other projects, and I did indeed start on the modelling and design process, but it bothered me that the Hoyofair Wrio project was left when it was so close to being playable. So, I ended up going back and exporting and refining the mod and as usual I was a bit too much of a perfectionist and have since completed that mod...
Please forgive me guys, I will possibly be late on the Halloween mods, but I'll be working all of today and tomorrow to try to get them out anyway. I hope this mod makes up for it in a way though. This is probably the longest I've spent in terms of actual active blender time (48 hours :skull emoji:) and I feel like it's the best mod I've modelled and textured so far in terms of quality, and I hope you agree.
As mentioned in the previous post the original design and concept can be found HERE
Allow me to take a moment on to talk about the mod and what I've spent my time on. The outfit itself is somewhat simple overall at least compared to other designs, but the small details add up I think to make the mod both easy and interesting to look at. In terms of modelling it, it was relatively easy. I kit-bashed a bit just to have some base to work off of for the pants shape (although I don't think you'd be able to guess from which other character since I changed it so much lol) then sculpted and custom modelled the rest :3 (I also changed the armbands from modelled to textured since I think it looks better) The coat used Wrio's own original one as a basis to work off of and then I of course heavily edited and added additional things to make the model match the design. I'm especially proud of the mask as I made that myself starting with a cube hehe. I think I've improved a lot with my modelling over my time modding and I hope it's evident to all of you as well.
I spent a long time texturing this time trying to go further into studying how Hoyo stylizes their models, and I really tried to mimic the way shadows and shine are added but of course there was still a lot where I used my own judgement and stylistic sensibilities to fill in gaps of the design. The lightmap hopefully reflects this as well and I really hope it all looks nicely shaded and stuff in game. I'm very happy that I discovered the head diffuse works the same on the handcuffs as everywhere else and now the vision should glow and pulse properly alongside his burst. There are only two things visually I would say are not completely fixed to me which is the shading on the metal on the recolored gauntlets and the Ousia effect on when his Arkhe alighnment is active (although neither of those are really something I can change easily.). Regardless I doubt these are super noticeable so if it doesn't bother you just forget I even said it. I only say it now since its on my mind and I'm a little (very) obsessive over the details of mods. I might start talking about it again in posts because I think its been a while since I really laid out what I do to create models and mods but I worry its too much for all of you to read so let me know...
Okay this will be the last paragraph explaining model detailing and stuff. First off the weighting was very easy on the body since it's a fitted tank top, boots and pants. The only really significant thing to me is that I've mostly fixed a small issue when the buff guys bend their arm where the inside of their elbows looks a little too inverted, but I've adjusted stuff and smoothed it out for this. The coat was a completely different story though. Wrio's original coat doesn't hang off both his shoulders properly so to get that effect I had to slightly adjust it a lot. There's also a few clipping issues that are noticeable sometimes but I couldn't fix it without spending even more time then I already have and some of them are necessary for the model to flow smoothly on other animations, only glitching out at certain movements so if you have any concerns dm me and I can probably explain it though i think the issues aren't noticeable if you aren't looking for them so I won't go into it here for my own sake. Secondly although the model has been optimized a bit with TexFx to have the chains on his hands not clip I also have one more adjustment I will probably make in the future to make the normal map less big (also through TexFx probably).
Alright now here comes the future plans. For just this mod I'd like to add coat, mask, wolf, and strip toggles eventually but for now I'm proud of how it looks so we'll see how the cards turn out in terms of my memory and motivation. I also want to start maybe creating galleries for free members so that they can see what content they're signing up for and maybe more showcase videos and stuff because I work so much on these projects but I have no clue how to show it off so erm yeah. As mentioned, I will be grinding tonight and tomorrow to try to have the Kinich Ajaw costume and the Caelus Raccoon costume out but we will see. If I can't do the full onesie idea for now I will do simpler lewd versions instead to at least have a bit of content for all of you. I may also change the structure of expected content drops for the tiers each month. I've felt a bit bogged down by the smaller projects I've been doing so I kind of want to make it more flexible in terms of when I release and how I release mods, but I will have to consider this more. I really wish I could pump out more stuff more often but honestly my heart kinda goes into every project I do so it feels weird. I don't know I will discuss this more as I look at how my college responsibilities eek out. I'm getting far closer to my goal of going to part-time and or gap year territory in terms of monthly support which I had initially set as numbers I thought not achievable but I'm having to consider how stable that is and whether I'd be willing to take the risk or not so I'll keep you all updated.
ANYWAY, HERE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MOD:
DOWNLOAD OR THE MOD(S) WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY.
BOTH TexFX and ORFix have been updated VERY recently so please ensure you have the latest versions so that it works properly.
SinsOfSeven told me he fixed the issue with crashing on AMD drivers so if you didn't update last time with the 1.05 update try again now, it should be good.
And now as always thank you for your support. :3 To be honest I feel a bit bad because I say it every post and I think I've expressed this sentiment multiple times before so I worry it seems insincere, but I honestly am so grateful for your support as I truly couldn't dream of continuing to model and stuff without all of you. If I seem to have forgotten to mention something, please dm me on discord for the quickest response, I'm trying not to let it pile up so I will probably get back to you either asap hopefully not more than a week or two. See you all soon <3
