Yo Tom! The PS5 still uses liquid TIM. https://www.resetera.com/threads/teardowns-of-the-new-ps5-model.782204/post-114469694 The main thing they changed in the 1st revision and carried into the slim was the removal of excess heatsink copper and swapped in more aluminum into the design. Reduced the amount of fins and rearranged the fin layout for better airflow, less air impedance.

Removing liquid metal would have made quite the difference, so that's why I think Sony kept it.
