Great discussion as always! Interesting that you mention Martin Scorsese and his comments on videogames. While he is a bit older than his good friend Steven Spielberg, I think his comments are just out of touch. Spielberg clearly does not think the same way or he wouldn't have made Ready Player One; which is clearly a love letter to gaming. BTW, Microsoft sucks! I am just going to keep saying that and frankly, it would nice if Sony just continues to dominate the market. Apple has hubris, but Microsoft has enough for not only Apple, but you can throw in Nvidia for good measure. Microsoft never really created anything (going back to its roots) and frankly, why should we expect them to change after 45 years?

I still play some indie to AA games many years after the release (really, I barely found any new games of interest in the past decade, hence I still beat the same old games repeatedly). Games that aren't afraid to go with different mechanics and such can be more fun than a lot of the AAA games coming out these days that get to feeling like the same thing with a different skin (I even got bored of Pokémon's main series years ago for that same reason, unlike Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness that are more unique). One of my favorite games to this day is Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) , mainly as it's so unique with mechanics. It's been hard to find games that really go with unique mechanics any more, as a player on PC (without Steam) and XBox Series X (without GamePass as I actually buy the games outright), besides for previous generation and prior consoles/games (3DS; DS; XBox 360; Wii; GCN; GBA; XBox; PS2; GBC; PS1; GBP).
