Darnit I saw the option to ask a question but for some reason it didn't occur to me that I should. I would have been really interested to find out why Meta abandoned Outside-In tracking.

Just adding my opinion regarding tracking. I constantly feel like advertising is a bust. There are so many ads everywhere. They're in our faces and they're intrusive. Websites are littered with ads everywhere. Youtube videos always has a pre-roll and sometimes an even more annoying mid-roll with ads. With all of that, plus the fact that ads rarely show anything interesting, I, as many others, I believe, block all ads I come across. I tend to give creators a chance at showing their ads, but if I don't find them interesting, I skip them. But that leads to a negative cycle. Companies wants to collect as much data as they can to fatten their purposes. Google, Facebook, etc. They don't care about us. They care about money. All they care about is collecting that data and selling it to advertisers. Since these companies don't care about us, and I don't care about all of their obnoxious ads, I don't care to fatten up their purses either. So I do all I can to also disable any tracking they use too. I also reject any and all cookies I can. If I can't reject cookies, I disable javascript. If the site doesn't work without javascript, I just go elsewhere. If these companies don't care about us, and would throw us under a bus if they could earn some extra money by doing so, and I don't get anything in return, why should I help fatten their purses? Of course, there are some companies (e.g. Valve) that will gather statistics. We can't get away from ALL tracking, but there is a difference between Facebook and Valve. I'd rather trust Valve more than I do Facebook. Until the day comes when Valve becomes another Facebook. Then I will start doing whatever I can to stop its data gathering or go elsewhere. I will never use Facebook, or anything by Meta, but I will still use Steam, even if they collect data from us. And I have no doubt that even if they remove the Facebook login requirement and replace it with a Meta account, they will start trying to collection info about us and sell that in a different way. I have no doubt, because it is such a profitable market for them that they're going to do everything they can to make it happen. It's like, even if we have this profitable business on the side that generates revenue, why stop selling ads if we still can do it? We might no be able to get away with it forever, but until it no longer becomes profitable, we will keep doing it. I do not trust Facebook or its parent company and I will never touch anything they make because they have shown that they only care about money, just like all big American corporations. I just felt like I had to get my opinion out there.
