Damn it, I made the same mistake for the second time: I wasn't specific enough with my question. When asking you about motherboard pricing, I should have clarified I'm talking about new, high-end enthusiast platforms, which currently comprises of Z690 alone, which I only alluded to in the later half of my question. If you go over Buildzoid's PCB breakdowns or even just the spec sheets, you'll see many Z690 boards in the sub-$300 price range with an embarrassing number of USB ports and other basic features, let alone features such as a postcode. I do think the price increase of enthusiast class boards from sub $350 to $700+ in barely 5 years is worth discussing, and I accept blame for not being precise enough with my question. Of course I know decent B550 boards etc. exist, I myself bought one a couple years ago but that's the thing, AM4 is old now, even the 500 series of boards aren't exactly new. But again, I should have very clearly pinpointed Z690 wherein $200 is truly low-end territory, and yes I would consider DDR4 Z690 boards largely low-end. It would have been a good talk. Anyways, lesson learnt!
