Tegra A57 uses more power than A57 should. It is part of the reason tegra fell off as mobile SoCs. It is not as bad as the snapdragon 810 (whose overall trouble had something to do with a broken memory controller iirc) but still a poor implementation of the A57 core. I’m Nintendo/Nvidia didn’t feel like they could get games working for docked/portable with CPU clocks switching. As obviously clocks could be higher when docked (presumably).

Hmm, IPC is independent of clock speeds. All processors have the same IPC @2Ghz vs 4.5Ghz. The single core scores for the XT models should be closer to Intel (in synthetic benchmarks at least) just because of the 200Mhz increase in boost clocks.

TSPCFS

No, IPC does change with clockspeed, as latency, bandwidth and various other “uncore” parts influences IPC.

Just realized I showed up twice in this episode. Don't worry, it wont go to my head lol. That post about the AMD support was before they decided to support b450 again. I still think its a bad move from a PR perspective though. People upgrading when Zen 3 launches will face less issues but new builders who pick up a 400 series board at launch are going to be a nightmare for customer support i suspect.

MooresLawIsDead

I just think they had to do something to prevent lawsuits over false statements regarding future support. Either way like we agreed in the episode - AM5 should have every chip work on every chipset. Doesn't matter if AM5 lasts 2 years or 5 years - every chip should bloody work.

Games will still look better on the xbox one x .Particularly any game running unreal engine 5 ssd not withstanding.
