We will discuss Ice Lake, Renoir, Tiger Lake, and laptops in general...and I am sure we will also talk about all types of things involving PC Hardware & Monitors.

Put your reader mail below - Be Concise, use good grammar, and be as thoughtful as possible...we may just read your question :).

How long do you think you'll keep using the 9900k in the gpu test rig and the 2080ti in the cpu test rig?

Anonymous

How long do you think will Intel be the "better" (at least from the consumers point of view without knowledge) brand in laptops, even though AMD builds the stronger performing and more efficient CPUs? See the newest laptops with strong Nvidia GPUs are all paired with intel 10th gen. Isn't this also bad for the manufacturer like dell, hp,... due to the efficiency difference, specially in power and cooling limited laptops?

What beard oil does he use, i want a epic beard like his but its just too scratchy

It seems to me like we're in an era of changeover in mainstream screen technologies, do you see OLED, MicroLED, etc. as something that will replace panel types we use now, or work alongside them? And what about HDR and >144hz panels, do you think people will see enough of a difference that the market will be willing to pay for those features?

Given the crazy jumps in apu performance recently how long can dedicated CPU and Gpu possibly be relevant. Example being new ryzen Apu equaling the 3700x and 9900k in performance. What would happen if you add Navi 2.0 or 3.0 Cu to a monolithic apu?

Tom, if I recall correctly you have said in the past something to the effect that 1440p (and by extension 1440p ultrawide) is a "doomed" screen resolution, once the new consoles will run their content in 4k and 60Hz or better. It would be great if you could elaborate on that and then get Tim's take on this topic.

While Tim doesn't seem to have any monitor brand bias. Does one brand in his experience seem to deliver a product worthy of our money consistently over other competing brands?

Dragonetti 031

Do you and Steve run Hardware by the two of you and if no, how is doing what behind the screens/off camera at hardware unboxed.

Dragonetti 031

Generally speaking will most PC gamers play on 1440p 144 Hz monitors or will we play in 4K 120Hz whit in 5 years from now, now that Raytracing did come in to play on the computers and consoles, taken in account Raytracing will replace tile base technology? By the way what is your preference and your own pc capable of at this moment when playing games....if you play at all?

Dragonetti 031

For what profession did study and which professions did you had before you landed at Hardware unboxed, and is that your only job you have at the moment?

Dragonetti 031

What are you and Steve planing for the future of Hardware unboxed?

Anonymous

Looking forward. Hardware Unboxed try to be independent. They buy the products they review. So 👍 foot up for that.

Now that Intel is trying to catch up with AMD APU future, do you think they can get hold and get back what they are losing now and in the future in the laptop market, taken in account that AMD is growing its laptop market share and technological capability and current course AMD is taken by Lisa Su?

Dragonetti 031

What do you think about up coming/future Intel mobile processors compared to AMD's laptop APU's?

I am in the market for a new monitor and not looking to spend more than $600 because money and I have a 5700XT. Should I get a really good 1440p 144Hz model or would it be worth staying at 1080p 60Hz until 4k high refresh monitors are available and growing into it as I plan on using whatever display I end up with for 6+ years?

Hello Tom and Tim! I'd like to know what your opinions are regarding the hdr experience of OLED (LGC9 for example) versus these 1152 zone mini-led monitors, like the announced but unreleased predator x32 monitor from Asus. Is 1152 zones adequate enough for gaming? Streaming/Blu-ray?(in terms of hdr ofcourse) What are your thoughts on the Boe 4k(unknown refresh) 2048 mini-led zone monitor? Thank you, appreciate you both!

Dominik Koc

So I personally pre ordered a 4k 144hz with dsc (so no 4.2.2, you get full 4.4.4 at 144hz) eve monitor for $600. $100 pre order $500 once it ships. They have 1440p 240hz for around 400 I think but I would 100% check out the "eve monitor" in google. Its community developed and the monitors ship q3-q4 this year if you can wait about 6 months. The downpayment is refundable is something else comes out. ALMOST FORGOT!!! IT HAS HDR! Kind of... hdr 600 rated with peaks up to 750nit and its edge lit. That's the best hdr you will find in a monitor though at this price without f.a.l.d tech. Enjoy!

When are laptops with 4800U expected to come out? I'm much more interested in those rather than the 4900HS or other gaming laptops

When do you think uLED TVs with be viable under 65"?

And are they easy to run over 60Hz? It seems like LEDs should be able to run at crazy Hz

Samsung is reportedly shutting down their LCD operations by EOY 2020-what’re the implications of this for OLED and Micro/mini LED displays and the future of the display industry?

Jesse Jaskowiak

Hello Tom and Tim! Do you think 4K gaming monitors will push beyond 200Hz in the near future? Especially with the release of big Navi and Ampere coming out.
