The first month of a new decade is somehow already over!!!  Tomorrow I will be doing Loose Ends for January 2020.  There is quite a lot to talk about:

  • Intel Xe, Renoir, Tiger Lake, & Zen 3!
  • Explaining the potential benefits of the PS5's custom SSD, and the performance vs XSX.
  • New Podcasts rolling out soon!

Put questions pertaining to things I covered this month as a comment below!

The Immortal Cameraman

I have a 3-part question since you mentioned the Wii/DS era vs Switch in broken silicon earlier this month. 1. What's your take on recent news about the Switch surpassing lifetime SNES sales (52.48M to 49.8M)? 2. Do you think it would surpass the NES (61.9M) this year given FY19 saw 17.74M units sold so far? 3. If so, would you think approaching Wii lifetime sales numbers would incentivize Nvidia and Nintendo to work on more powerful/efficient SoC's to "compete" against Sony's/Microsoft's next Gen consoles?

(very extremely optional question) If you had a son named Ice Lake who was a really good boy, always did his homework, but was a bit fat and ate too much, and your new neighbors moved in constantly talking about how great their god damn son Renoir is. "Renoir this Renoir that!, 6 scholarships? our baby boys got 8!" WONT SHUT THEIR DAMN MOUTH ABOUT HIM! What would you do? Hide your son till he gets in shape? Or just run with it, act like its no biggie, its not that bad right?

More of a comment than a question. I am surprised at this late date that I have heard no details at all regarding console and RDNA2 ray tracing implementation. Cheers to another great year of MLID!
