Hey Guys!

I got a really cool e-mail today! Scrimgear.com is a new company looking to create merchandise for streamers and things, and they want to make apparel for me!

I know some of you guys have been wanting this, and I have been wanting it as well. Obviously, while this next year will be full of me saving to move, I could use the extra money as well.

I'm gunna send you guys a transcript of the convo, let me know what you think. Also, I need ideas for sayings (things I say a lot or have said before) to put on the shirts. Some will be sayings, some will be sexy pictures. PLEASE send ideas if you have them!

Here is the convo:

Hey Tara,

I wanted to reach out and invite you to Scrim Gear. It's an e-commerce website that offers sales, production and distribution of branded apparel and merchandise. It's strictly dedicated to eSports Streamers, Athletes and Teams where your own apparel will be sold.

At no cost to you, our staff will work hand in hand to create your own branded apparel and merchandise store. We will take care of customer service, shipping, packaging and of course printing and production. You will want to promote your own branded store to your fans & followers. This is because you want to sell apparel and merchandise to make yourself money! We encourage you to provide your own artwork/logos as well as fan art. However, if you cannot, we can have you work with one of our designers to create apparel and merchandise for you.

We want you to be a part of the website and launch campaign. Joining in this stage of the company will allow you to have additional financial perks on your apparel and merchandise sales.

I'd love to go into more specifics with you about this opportunity. Is there a good day and time that I can reach you via phone or Skype?

Me:

Hey! Abso-fucking-lutely! I have been in the market for developing my own merchandise for a while now! Before we talk on the phone (I rarely have time, and I would prefer an e-mail transcript of details and to make sure we are both interested in working with eachother first) could you please answer a few questions? What percentage of the sales would I get?Would you guys help finalize designs for me, do you have a graphic designer on staff? I have many high-res images and great ideas, but I don't have the time, or honestly the creative supply, to finalize said ideas. Will this cost money on my end if I use your designers a bit? When is launch? How soon can my merch be purchased? Thank you!Tara

Hey Tara,

Thanks for getting back to me so quick! E-mail is totally fine for communication. There is a table below the rest of the answers to your questions with the standard commission rates. The table shows a per dollar amount. However, the percentage would range from 20% to 50%+ per sale depending on total volume sold of products from your store. I can go into more details about this if you would like.

We can help put any finalized any designs for you as we have several designers on staff. All of our designers have very creative minds that can assist with the development of your apparel and merch. Proving us with high-res images, fan art and other ideas greatly helps in the development of the products.  One of the greatest aspects of our site is that there is no cost to you for the use of designers or development. We will handle the store setup,  production, distribution and customer service as well.

The hard launch date is set for May 1st right now. Your products can be up for purchase potentially sooner than that. It just depends how quickly everything can get processed. We do have a contract for your to review and fill out. Just standard stuff.

Let me know what other information you would like to know. I'd be more than happy to answer any additional questions.

Me:

Hey! This sounds OK, what are your actual costs to make the products, and what are they wholesale without our cut? Are you saying I get 25-50% of the revenue on top of wholesale and cost of production? Thanks,Tara

Scrim:

The commission is based off retail sale price, not based off printing, production or labor. For example:

http://scrimgear.com/shop/payoff-rekt-crest/

The vendor would received $5 to $10 based off the item being listed at $19.99. This would be 25-50% of the retail price point. The vendor would yield the same percentage on this item:

http://scrimgear.com/shop/payoff-ladies-flowy-v-neck-dress/

. You can set a higher price point for your products to generate more money. We have countless items to choose from such as t-shirts, hoodies, dresses, tanks , mouse pads, tote bags, beer slings, etc.

Me:

Hey!

That sounds great! I would like to focus on men's apparel, but I know my female viewers (and myself) would also like some things. I love the crop tops, and the distressed-looking pink hoodie. I hate how lots of "custom apparel" sites have really plain or low quality clothing. For instance, women would only get ugly, non-form-fitting t-shirts, etc.

I'd like to send you guys some images I think would make sexy/cute designs with my name on them. I also want to take a poll with my fans to see what quotes or logos they might want on a shirt. I say a lot of silly shit. I'm excited. I can heavily promote this on all the social networks, Patreon, Twitch, and my 2 YouTube channels!

Would that work? I'm also interested in seeing that contract you mentioned!

Thanks, super excited to work with you guys!Tara

END OF CONVO---------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you guys think? Suggestions?

Yup The email has to perfectly match @scrimgear.com as mentioned but the site itself seems legit I did a DNS host registrar and Twitter fu and it seems to be heavily associated to a Jerad A Edelman and Ryan Barkan of onehourtees.com who have a history in the same industry and are not a fly by night company.

I know I am late on commenting on this but, will there be stringer tank tops?
