Hey Guys,

I just wanted to share my morning with you and some pictures because I am a little sad. I might share them on my backup IG later because they are so cute, but I felt too sad to do it now.

This morning J and I were driving to the gym and halfway there we saw two people protecting something in the middle of the road. It happened to be a baby bird fledgling! We stopped too as she appeared to be scared (I say she, not sure, she just seemed to have attitude and "it" seems too informal and "they" too SJW) she ran around evading us for a while almost getting hit and we had to continually block cars. I grabbed a fleece jacket and right before she ran into traffic again threw it on her. I put my hand under and grabbed her and brought her to the car.

Initially I wanted to bring her to some kind of conservation place for birds. It was a hard decision because her parents were flying around and as I Googled I realized that it's normal for fledglings to leave the nest and hunt on the ground until they can fly, but her territory was between a road and an apartment complex. I was worried she would run back out or that her parents already stopped caring about her.

NOTE: It's a myth that parents won't touch baby birds after we have touched them. I already knew this, but Googled and double checked just to be sure.

Anyway, we called vets, animal control, and all the wildlife places in NV that were open and no one would/could take her. After further Googling we decided the best thing to do is not to steal her from her parents. We drove into the apartment complex and put her near the building as far from cars as possible, but still not far. I was (and still am) hoping that I made the right decision. I want her to live and long and happy natural life, and if I had thought it was what was best for her, I would have gladly raised her until she could fly... She doesn't seem injured at all, and I just couldn't make the decision to take her far from her parents (who were still around flying back and forth.)

On the way home we kept our eyes open for her killed on the road, but there was nothing! I really hope she is OK! We bonded while I was holding her. She fell asleep while J called places. So cute! J reminded me to take pictures, so I have attached them! <3

Love you guys! As many of you know, animals are my weakness. I love them a little too much and I get too invested in them. >.< I am glad I was at least able to move her from the road and give her another fighting chance. :(

It's a good thing you tried to help as much as possible, it's easy to walk by and ignore others in need (baby bird or otherwise). Much love from us.

Cute Flycatcher. and it’s always best to put animals back into nature. Unless it’s a Crow, or something cooler. like an Eagle. lol
