Hey, Guys!

I have been thinking about handedness lately. Supposedly only 10% of the population is left-handed, including myself. Also, supposedly it is genetic, but because of the limited availability of utensils and shit for left-handed people, I have become pretty ambidextrous out of necessity.

My questions are:

Which handed are my followers?

Can it be changed?

If it can be changed, how is it genetic? Is it just the initial preference that is genetic?

Will I never be as good with my right hand as I could be with my left, even with practice?

It's all very interesting to me!

Here are some things I do right or left handed, or either:

Writing - Left

Pitching - Left

Batting - Either

Shooting baskets - Right

Guitar - Right

KB and mouse - Right

Are there some things you do with your other hand? I first started thinking about this when I was into StarCraft. The progamer Naniwa was a lefty and switched around his mouse and KB. I remember telling him I was a lefty too and he told me there's no way I am reaching my potential without switching. I tried it, but because I had literally been gaming on and using a computer right-handed since childhood it felt AWFUL. He posited that it would just take time, but be worth it.

Supposedly lefties earn more, are better with language, are more prone to some diseases, and are more frequently men. Maybe this is why my favorite subject has always been linguistics, vocabulary, and writing? Here's some interesting stuff on the Wiki if you're a lefty:

(Keep in mind the citation ambiguity notes at the top. Some of these facts may be poorly represented.)

Thoughts!? :D

I am right handed. I can shoot left handed but I have had to learn as I am a fire arms instructor. I can also be a switch hitter. It is funny that you said that most lefties are men, well both of my wife’s have been left handed.
