"Dewey Wins," is a reference to the real life incorrect headline that was published during the Truman/Dewey presidential election. They expected Truman to lose and were so confident they printed the paper with "Dewey Defeats Truman." But Truman won. So really the show was hinting from the jump that mayor Dewey was gonna have to find a new job lol

Omg idk what platform y'all are watching on did they FINALLY fix the backwards episode order? For the longest time both the title on the episode list and even the in-episode title cards for gemcation and raising the barn were swapped! It was really weird and it stayed like that for a loooong time (I rewatch this show a lot, no shame) I love Nanefua getting elected as mayor of beach city so muchhhh. I never necessarily disliked Dewey himself as a person (he just seems really oblivious and goofy) but as a mayor? Steven was right, he isn't involved at all in what is actually happening in the town like.... How tf has he been mayor this long lol. Nanefua is a firecracker she's an action oriented person, out of everybody in beach city she's like the perfect mayor! You're so right about how this applies to the real world too. A lot of us are really struggling right now with the idea that we're actually being heard by any of our representatives. At least, I certainly feel like I'm not. A Nanefua coming in and shaking things up around here would be so nice. 😮‍💨 The thing I love most about Steven Universe is that everything that happens has permanent consequences. Nothing is ever forgotten about or reset in canon. Steven really does continue to push on through all this really messed up stuff and it becomes apparent from like s4 onwards that it's piling up and he hasn't properly processed a lot of the stuff he's been through. Can't wait for you to see how that all unfolds in the future~ I love your theories btw! I hope nobody confirms or denies them prematurely. I try really hard not to give any indication because the reaction is what it's all about here!!!

Woah I'm just seeing this comment now. Sorry about that! I agree about not feeling too strongly about Dewey. I definitely feel like Nanefua will be a more active Mayor. I will miss his little jingle though lol. I was recently watching an Adventure Time episode where Jake breaks his viola and then it's magically fixed in a scene later in the episode, and thought about how well lack of continuity can be used for comedic effect. On the other hand I think it really takes guts to make every action in your show be a commitment. It can definitely make the show's stakes feel realistic and more emotional. You do a great job of not spoiling things which I've learned is an art unto itself after reading one too many careless comments. I truly appreciate your feedback!
