imbue curls commission 💖🎀 (Patreon)

This was the last fully rendered piece I did in 2021 ! I really did not draw last year at all, I was totally burned out I think thats crazy, I have so much more motivation now ! But yes this hair care brand reached out to me and asked for a commission of a mother doing her daughters  hair ! It was really fun at the time, I really wanted to make them seem really comfortable with one another and excited, I hope that came across well ! The position was really hard to translate into a full piece, especially with what the client was asking for, without a background it was hard to conceptualise. Looking back on it I would make the composition completely different. But in reality they didn't give me enough time to do this. They said it was for Black History Month, but contacted me a week into October (October is BHM in the UK). They didn't pay me until a week before the deadline so I couldn't start before then. At the time I thought this was just an oversight until recently wheere I saw a lot of black creatives complain about being contacted for time sensitive Black Culture related things far too late. I don't think its lack of care, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt lmfao. The contracting was the most difficult thing tbh. But I'll talk about it more in the speedpaint ! I hope u like it regardless, I still like it even though I can notice a few mistakes now.
