This week I'm starting a new comic page.  I'd spent the past two weeks ironing out some gamedev odds and ends so I'd like to get back into comic mode again and keep this momentum going.  I've mentioned it before but it's kinda hard to shift between making comics and games, since both art tasks require different focus on different things, it usually takes me a day or so to get back into the right mindset.  But anyways, let's talk about this page a little bit!

This week I actually ran into the opposite of a problem I tend to have.  Sometimes I want to draw things out too much and need to shorten things, but when I was thumbnailing this scene I felt like I was skipping ahead too fast, so I'm adding another page to let Stacy decompress a bit and be her charming self for a little bit before we jump into the fire. I've always pictured her as this sort of force of nature Lizzie and Alice have to live with, like those two are central characters to the comic but Stacy is either stronger or more assertive or irrepressable, like an older sibling.  She's also the sheriff of the whole town now, so I wanted to take a page and give her some space to be herself before moving on. I've run into the "need one more page first" problem a few times in the past.  Sometimes it manifests as a single-panel splash page, which now that I think about it I haven't actually drawn one of in a long time.  Hmmm...

I have two panels on this page where the camera is pulled back and I don't know if I want to keep it that way.  My original thumbnail planned panels two and three to be the first and second panels, but all that overhead space felt like more than I needed for the dialogue that moment had planned, so I condensed them into a split panel and needed a lead-in to the page in the first panel.  I'll probably change one of the two panned-out panels before I start inking- the later-panel one was the one that was initially planned as a panned-out shot but it would fit the flow of the page better if I zoomed in on it, so that's likely what I'm going to do.

This week I'm focusing entirely on working on the comic so I'll have something more substantial for you this time next Friday.  I'm gonna get back to work after I put up one more Patreon post today, thanks for reading!
