Trying to see about getting back in the habit of doing at least one digital study a week! Started off by doing a bit of a breakdown on Latex and it's reflections before doing a painting of said reference. Was really handy so I figured I'd leave a post on here with it all!

As some general tidbits:

-Bounce lighting still gets picked up in the suit, but is usually a much reduced value compared to the ground value. Can really see this on the hips and butt of the reference. Tends to get stronger when facing the direction of the main or strongest light source!

-Creases and folds tended to fall into 2 groups. Heavier ones around areas like bent knees or elbows that had a more focused highlight. FOr creases they tend to break up the light bands of highlights more rather than having focused highlights for themselves. Can see this especially around the top ankle.

-Main light reflections tend to create hard edges when the surface turns away from the light source. Likewise you can see that the latex is generally lighter when facing the light, but you will still have darker bands where the highlight is not focused.

-For seams I tended to draw them with a dark line followed by a lighter line. Although this still happens especially around some of the highlights, I noticed that in most cases the edge which catches the light is the main focus. Can tend to still linger as it rolls into the shadows, which is create for showing a small strip to hint at where the seam goes.

Really good method of breaking down an image, noting observations, and then putting it into practice. Gonna have to do the same with observing some manuscripts for calligraphy stuff
